Nelson Lakes National Park is situated in the north of New Zealand’s South Island. As its name suggests, it is dominated by bodies of water, in particular its two main lakes – Rotoiti and Rotoroa. It’s also a mountainous and forested heaven for bird life and hikers.
Walk around Lake Rotoiti surrounded by high mountain peaks – with the option to catch a water taxi one way or to stay overnight in a hut, it’s a great option for families with children.
🚖The gateway to the park is St Arnaud, a 1-2 hour drive from Nelson or Blenheim.
