Driver's License in Indonesia
To drive in Indonesia, drivers need to present a valid driver’s license held for at least 1 or 2 years (according to different car hire company).
If your domestic driver's license is printed not in English (Arabic, Japanese, Cyrillic etc), an International Driving Permit (IDP/IDL) or an official translation in English is required together with your original driver’s license when you drive in Indonesia.
Drivers holding a valid driver's license of the 10 ASEAN member countries can use their national driver's license in the nine other countries without the need to obtain an IDP. These countries are Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Brunei, Indonesia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines.
*Attention! Some car hire companies would have different requirements. Please check Terms and Conditions during the booking process.
