It is recommended to have PERS coverage when using vehicle in cross border rentals for the US and Canada. The renter must have a valid driver's license and rental record to cross the border into Canada. Canadian law does require that everyone entering the country have a passport, so everyone in the vehicle must have the proper identification. If a renter (including a Canadian resident) is driving a U.S. rented (and licensed in the U.S.) vehicle to Canada, it can only be driven across the border for up to 30 days unless an extension is requested from Customs at the time of entry.

Strange occurrence. We originally requested a Toyota Corolla but as we reached the gate the car couldn't be allowed to leave the lot and the gateman gave us a Rogue Sport which worked well for the entire 9 day use.
