Renting a car to tour the island is really comfortable. You can stop whenever you want and go whenever you feel like it. However, driving in Taiwan made me realize I was the slowest driver around. It felt just like Flash from Zootopia—seemingly slow but completely different once behind the wheel. I remember in Jiufen, due to unfamiliarity with the roads, I mistakenly drove into the opposite lane and tried to correct it immediately, but the other driver didn't give me a chance. They kept pressuring me, and I had to back up about 15 meters as they remained close behind. In my country, this situation would likely have led to a fight. Also, Taiwan's ETC system is incredibly convenient and fully automatic. There are no barriers; it only cost me 600 TWD for the entire island tour. I was also envious of the motorcycle culture there—really convenient and saves a lot of hassle. Additionally, when driving through tunnels, the police would broadcast messages over the car radio to tell you to speed up if you were driving too slowly, which was a fascinating experience.
