The rental company's representative aggressively pushed local insurance for $60 and threatened to cancel my order if I didn't purchase it. Even the customer service call from the rental platform wasn't answered. Terrible experience with the rental company. Thankfully, the rental platform covered this forced insurance for me. Car was great. Fob didn't work well. Advised to change battery. Did so. Still wouldn't open door unless attempted many many times. Finally removed the board from within the fob and used it without the case. Worked just fine. Not a big deal.

La hora de recogida estipulada en la reserva era 11 am y aún habiendo llegado un poco más tarde a recoger el auto, lo recibimos a las 13h05. El proceso de registro es muy lento e ineficiente. Querían que firme un voucher en blanco, por lo cual me negué, ya que la fianza era de 1000$. No creo que sea correcto que obliguen a firmar un voucher en blanco cuando la fianza está establecida. Además, pagué por el seguro de daños… entonces no comprendo qué pretendían cobrar de ese voucher. Porque aparte de eso, me retuvieron 1000$ de mi tarjeta de crédito. Todo este proceso lento!! Cuando por fin nos iban a entregar el auto, después de reclamar por varias ocasiones, nos percatamos de que llegaba la persona encargada de la entrega, en otro auto con familiares o amigos a quienes había recogido para llevarlos al aeropuerto. Reclamamos por su puesto, (me parece que fue nada profesional) y acordaron entregarnos otro auto de mayor categoría. Las condiciones de este auto eran terribles porque presentaba desperfectos en toda la carrocería. En medio de la revisión, se dieron cuenta que ese no era el auto que nos iban a entregar, entonces tuvimos que iniciar el proceso de revisión nuevamente con otro auto, haciéndonos perder aún más el tiempo. En fin, el spark entregado lo mismo, en pésimas condiciones. Toda la carrocería con rayones, chochado y con golpes, en fin… no estaba en las condiciones que esperas recibir un auto alquilado.
El auto estuvo en pésimas condiciones. Deberían inmediatamente sacarlo de circulación. La bocina no servía ni el aire caliente. Les manifesté mi inconformidad ni no me resarcieron con nada. No puede entregar a quienes alquila un auto es terribles condiciones
The car was old if you compare a car rented in USA, it had more than 160,000 kilometers and the general conditions were not good. Tires were old and the engine is forced when you drive thorugh the mountains in Ecuador, I imagine because the age of the cars.
I arranged all the insurance with EasyRent but at the arrival Europcar people forced me to buy the Civil Responsability, and I had to pay 150 USD more than expected.
My general opinion is bad, I have rented with Europcar in other countries with a different experience.

No it didn't exceed my expectations at all . The car is a Spark, the smallest car available, with over 46 thousand kilometers on it, running those roads. I am a car mechanic and I know that the front wheel bearings are completely shot. The travel was very noisy due to the bearings (rolling noises). So was the clutch on it`s limit, connected very late. A car of this size, of very poor quality, as we all now, being used as a rental car in a country with poor roads, aggressive drivers, chaotic traffic conditions, won`t last long. And at 47500 now, it is not getting better…

Normaly you ecxpect that a rentacar is in perfect mecanical conditions. So you dont check if there is water in the cooling system neither you check the tyres if they are still in good condition. I got a car with totally slick tires. That is absolutly criminal as beeing very dangerous.
At the end of the rent they tried to deduct of my card some US$ 550 for the fixing for the poor exterior condition of the car. I protested.
Europcar Ecuador is not a very serious partner for you in Ecuador. Must admit I had similar problem in Ecuador with Budget.

The battery was so old it was deformed. We waited four hours for assistance, only to jump-start the battery. This was misleading and we couldn't continue our week-long trip. Then we were given a small manual car by the repair staff, which was another downgrade. The small car rental was 1189 RMB. The price difference is 3464 RMB. Please refund us. The car rental experience was very poor.

This is the first time I've encountered such a thing after renting cars for so long! Couldn't contact the rental company! Had no choice but to give them the security code.

The car had scheduled at 30.000 km maintenance, but when I dropped off the car had almost 31.000 km. Avis was informed that my route was going to be about 2000 km. Because of this lack of maintenance, the brakes were not well adjusted and the car did not have the power to climb, then every climb on the road was done at first speed.
