The original quote of 315 euros increased to 870 euros. Despite my multiple assertions that I did not need additional insurance or other services, the staff insisted that this is the normal price and that there were no other fees except for the cross-border fee. I eventually had to call the car rental customer service to negotiate and finally settled at 507 euros. This situation highlights two issues: 1. This company's cross-border fee is significantly higher than others. Previously, I rented from another company with a cross-border fee of 6 euros per day. 2. Hertz service was good. The wait time to pick up the car was quite long, but there was a staff member to check the car upon return.
