The overall experience with the store was good. However, we originally thought the store was in the train station, but it actually isn't and it's quite a distance away. (Two years ago, we booked in Berlin and the store was right in the train station, which was very convenient). When picking up the car, the store technician introduced the car to us. Since it was a model we were not familiar with, and before we understood everything, he said the boss needed him to leave and hurried away, leaving us clueless about how to use the in-car navigation (because each model is a bit different). We had to hit the road quickly and later figured it out at a rest stop by asking someone else for help.
When picking up the car, the model we reserved was not available, though that was not the main issue. The main problem was that when picking up the car, it was just left there without any staff to confirm its condition with us. What's worse, when returning the car at the airport, it took three staff members over fifteen minutes to check it, and they claimed there was a small dent on the right door (apologies, but none of the four of us noticed it because we are not professionals!). We drove very carefully and parked the car in a wide spot at the hotel to avoid any potential accidents at night, taking a taxi instead. The rental company said it might have been someone else who caused the damage, yet they still charged us! I would like to ask why no one checked the car with us when we picked it up, but they were so meticulous upon return. It seems intentional to find faults! Moreover, they checked our car very thoroughly, unlike with other cars before and after ours, which were returned quickly. This feels deliberate! We argued for a long time that day, but because our flight was about to take off, we couldn't continue and had to comply. Avis, please reflect deeply on this!
I think AVIS is pretty good. When you go, make sure to rent a new car (they might not have old ones anyway). New cars are in good condition, comfortable to drive, and most importantly, the navigation is very accurate. Unlike domestic navigation where you need to input specific addresses to find locations accurately, in foreign countries you can usually find places by entering the address directly. Finally, remember to buy full insurance. I had a minor accident while rushing back, but because I had full insurance, the AVIS inspector just asked me to hand over the keys and I was good to go.
In addition to credit and debit cards, you can now pay for online car rentals with cryptocurrency! Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) are accepted. Curious about how long a Bitcoin transaction takes or how to pay with Bitcoin? Read our FAQs for more details.
