There was only one person in line when picking up the car, so the process was quite fast. Initially, they gave me the wrong car, a Ford FLEX, which was also large but smaller than the Suburban. I estimated that the luggage space wouldn't be sufficient, so they changed it after I pointed it out. They strongly recommended the roadside assistance plan, which costs 7 CAD per day. I hadn't intended to buy it, but considering the mountain roads, I bought it for peace of mind. In the end, I didn't need to use it. When returning the car, I was charged a late fee. After disputing it, the fee was waived. Although I did return the car about ten minutes late, the staff had indicated that up to an hour would be fine, which is why I was a bit late. Next time, I'll make sure to return it on time. My agreement was to return the car with a full tank, but the gas station attendant didn't fill it completely, which wasn't really my fault as I had asked him to fill it up. Fortunately, there was no penalty.
When our language skills aren't very good, it's important to rely on the service quality and awareness of the rental staff. For this location, I felt the service person was just average. He was a middle-aged man who seemed eager to finish up by 6 PM. We arrived at 6 PM after getting our luggage and passing through customs, and he seemed a bit impatient. He also recommended the 'prepaid full tank option,' which we considered and agreed to, so we can't really blame him for that. Additionally, we showed him our three-year international driver's license obtained through the rental company, but he didn't recognize it and insisted on using their company's translation service. Fortunately, I had the foresight to apply for their translation service and had it printed out, which saved us a lot of trouble. Otherwise, it would have been a real mess (which made us quite unhappy and frustrated).
Although full insurance was already purchased, they still tried to sell other insurance options, which was bothersome. Also, this year marks the 500th anniversary of the National Park with free entry. So why are they charging an additional 100 CAD for the park pass?
