Also, third-party sites won't call to confirm. 2. After getting the Benz E, in a French town, the car was broken into at a public paid parking lot. We called the third-party site and were directed to contact Avis directly. After a 40-minute drive back to Avignon, we paid around EUR 250 for the damage and got a new Benz E. However, it made a constant creaky noise within 5 minutes of driving. Upon returning to Avis and consulting, they claimed the noise was due to brake pad friction and was normal due to hot weather. This persistent noise didn't make us feel safe, and we requested another car. Avis only had this creaky car available and insisted we take it. We didn't dare to drive it. 3. With no other options, we were eventually given a 5-seater Renault but still charged the Benz E price. Our total expenditure was EUR 1267 + EUR 250.
