From Los Angeles to San Francisco by Car

Reviewed: Sat, Sep 2, 2017
About Alamo: 8.0 /10
The process was simple and convenient. However, I am quite upset about the inexplicable $30 fuel charge when I returned the car at San Francisco airport, especially since I refueled before returning it.

Picking up the car from Los Angeles airport is very convenient. The Alamo shuttle bus driver was very helpful, and the staff at the self-service car pickup area were also very nice.

About Alamo: 2.0 /10
The service staff are extremely unprofessional. I rented a car for two days, misplaced a $600 GPS phone, and they charged me $1200. Finally, they admitted the mistake but didn't know when they'd refund me, nor did they apologize.

They are irresponsible. I have been paying fines from violations in Europe last year, and they offer no help in handling them! I'm still using your services, and you think this is acceptable?

Overall, the evaluation is quite good and satisfactory, although there was noticeable upselling of insurance by the staff during car pickup.

“Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, Yosemite, San Francisco, Highway 1, Los Angeles”
About Alamo: 8.0 /10
Overall, I was satisfied with Alamo's service. After landing, there was a free shuttle to the rental point. When returning the car, the staff quickly handled everything and then took me to the airport or hotel. The staff were very nice. However, one vital issue disappointed me: I had planned to drive an American car and reserved a Grand Cherokee or similar model. When I arrived at the office, I was told the last one had been recalled and was unavailable. At the parking lot, a staff member directed me to the fourth row where all the cars were midsize. I noticed larger SUVs like the Explorer in the first row, so I went to the counter to ask for the Explorer key. I was told it was a higher-level model and required an upgrade fee. Reluctantly, I took the key for a Highlander. Later, I found out that the Explorer is indeed in the same class as the Grand Cherokee and many others had gotten the Explorer when they couldn't get a Grand Cherokee. This made me quite annoyed and speechless.
