Booked from a store near Paddington in London, everything went smoothly. Booked an Audi A4 wagon but got a Volvo XC40 AWD instead. It's slightly smaller, but since we had one person less than expected, it worked out fine. Otherwise, there wouldn't have been enough space for our luggage. The car was very new, had built-in navigation and cameras on all sides to detect surrounding vehicles. It could park itself, although we didn't try that feature.
Not satisfied. They started selling theft insurance, but even after refusal, the attitude remained friendly! The dissatisfaction lies in the fact that I booked an Audi A4 wagon (to fit more luggage), but was given a Mercedes C220 sedan! The luggage couldn't fit! They even said it was an upgrade!!! After negotiation, they provided a Skoda wagon, claiming it was two levels higher than the original car and required a significant extra charge! We were in a hurry and couldn't be bothered to argue, so we didn’t agree to the higher-priced car. One piece of luggage stayed in the back seat for almost twenty days!!!!!!
There was only one inspector when returning the car in Edinburgh, causing a wait. The inspection was slow, inefficient, and the staff was unfriendly. Each car took a long time to inspect, even the undercarriage was checked thoroughly. They said I scratched the front wheel and might be charged £160. The car has over ten thousand miles and isn't new. I said I wasn't sure if it was me because the paintwork was fine. He asked if I had taken pictures of the entire car when renting. Seriously, who photographs the chassis, tires, and wheel rims? Will tire wear be charged too? I was there with my two kids, wasting a lot of time and had to contact the rental company. This nitpicky company makes you scared to drive their cars. Even if it's the customer's fault, would you really repair or replace a rim for a minor scratch? This is terrifying. Although I had full insurance, this experience was very unpleasant.
It's quite disappointing to have both fuel and electric cars in the same category. The service fee for handling traffic fines is very expensive. For a £60 parking ticket, Hertz charged a £42 service fee, which is about a 70% service rate. That's too much.
