We got a mid-to-large SUV, it was a Dodge. The pickup went smoothly. During the drive, there was a minor accident, but since we had full insurance, the rental company told us it was no problem when we returned the car. Just filled out an accident report and it was fine. Very satisfied!

The vehicle was in great condition and very new.

I've used Dollar before for a long time, and among US car rental companies, it has great value for the price. The staff is very friendly. This time they gave me a Nissan SUV in excellent condition, and I'm very satisfied!

During this trip to the three Hawaiian islands (Kauai, Big Island, and Maui), I rented cars from Dollar. The rental locations are very close to the airports, and there are plenty of shuttle buses, making it very convenient.

There were too many people on the day of pick-up, and I waited for nearly 2 hours. After being served, there were no available cars, and I was told I could upgrade at a discounted rate. Why didn't I get a free upgrade?? I had to wait another half-hour to get a car. After that, everything went smoothly, and exchanging the car was convenient.

I placed an order in March and arrived at Maui on 9/28. Upon entering Dollar and submitting the order, they started adding mandatory insurance. I already mentioned that I would pay according to the order, but they said the insurance in the order only covered a part. Finally, I asked if I couldn't rent the car if I didn't buy the additional insurance, and she said yes. At that moment, I didn't have time to contact the car rental website due to long flights and anxious family members. So, I had to buy whatever insurance they told me to. The return process was relatively smooth. I pre-paid for a full tank of gas, so I could return the car with any level of fuel.

They added insurance forcefully and charged my card without showing me the bill.

I chose Dollar because of the Grand Cherokee, but they didn't have one at all. Instead, they gave us an old Ford Edge. The car had many scratches, wasn't cleaned inside or out, and had no windshield wiper fluid. On the plus side, the paperwork was straightforward and hassle-free. A Chinese driver's license with a self-made English translation was sufficient, although I also got an 'international driver's license' from Taobao.

When renting the car, the counter staff suggested we buy their fuel, saying unused fuel could be refunded. Since we had an early flight, we thought it would be convenient. In the end, we had more than half a tank left, and they didn't refund us. There were many people in line, and we waited a long time. They didn't remind or explain the additional insurance content. It was completed on a machine in English. If you can't understand English or don't pay attention, you might end up agreeing to many extra charges.
