I rented a white automatic GOLF, the car was in excellent condition, almost new, and no deposit was required, just a tank of gas. When I picked it up, the odometer showed only 237 kilometers. The staff told me I was lucky. Returning the car was very convenient; since it was after 11 PM, there was no staff, so I parked the car in the AVIS parking lot and left the keys in the box. The only regret was that I had to search for the parking lot entrance for 2 hours since it was so late.

Switzerland is a great country for road trips, the scenery along the way is beautiful, and driving is not tiring at all. Speeding up a little can get you to 140 km/h easily, and I reached up to 180 km/h. Remember to buy the highway vignette at the Swiss border (available at gas stations), which costs about 40 Swiss Francs and is valid for a whole year. Most countries in Europe, like ours, have left-hand drive cars and drive on the right side of the road. If you need to overtake, you must do so from the left and return to the right lane as soon as possible. Most intersections have roundabouts with no traffic lights; remember, do not enter the roundabout if there are cars inside, wait until they exit before entering. Also, Swiss people are really helpful; if you need assistance, they are very willing to help and sometimes even ask if you need help, which moved me to tears.
