Picked up the car in Lyon, France. The pickup location on the map was different from the actual train station address, causing me to go to the wrong place and be late. The staff member handling the pickup was a black man. Since I don't speak French and my English is not very good, I couldn't understand his professional terminology. Initially, he wanted me to upgrade to a larger car, thinking the one I chose was too small (though there were only two of us). The car he gave me was automatic and included extra insurance, which added 100 euros to the order. Eventually, I insisted on getting the car I booked, and after some reluctance, he gave it to me. This entire process involved coordination through the rental company and my family communicating with him in French. Overall, they were unreliable and delayed my pickup by nearly 2 hours, which was very disappointing. Fortunately, there were no other issues when returning the car! It's really hard to have a good impression of him (not a personal attack, it's their own actions).
The AVIS at Lyon Airport is large, located within the car rental park. The staff have a very good attitude, especially the gentleman during the car return—he was particularly charming.
The provided vehicle had three of the five front wheel bolts missing, which is shocking! The car started shaking on the road because the wheel was about to fall off. Passengers could only discover the cause by leaning out the backseat window. We were driving on an elevated road, and leaning out or a falling wheel could have resulted in fatal consequences. We had to stop on the emergency lane. However, Avis's assistance line, which claims to be available from 7 AM to 12 AM, did not answer after three long waits. In the end, we had no choice but to call the police, and a tow truck dragged the car to a temporary towing company, which also kept us waiting for half an hour. The entire experience was zero stars. Avis had promised a refund because of this incident, but it has been 20 days with no news.
Service incroyablement mauvais, incapable de contacter la succursale et même le service à la clientèle ne pouvaient rien faire pour moi. Au pick up l’agent était hautain et a fait passer 3 personnes avant nous. Pour moi c’est la dernière fois que je fait affaire avec Avis.

Car pickup was convenient, the service was good, and the car rented was better than what I requested online. The car had low mileage and was almost new. However, the return location was hard to find, which caused a delay, and I was 40 minutes late returning the car, so I was charged an extra day. The procedures for picking up and returning the car were both convenient.
