Maybe because I have been living in Japan for many years, and my English is not very good, their attitude was quite tough. If you only get basic insurance, you need to pay a deposit of 1000. The fuel tank was also not full.
We called the car rental company to pick us up from the airport, and their attitude was extremely bad and unprofessional! The operator's English was incomprehensible, it sounded like a mix of curry, Mexican, or aboriginal accent, and then she questioned if we understood English. She eventually hung up on us! (She kept asking us where we were, which airport, and our location within the airport. We repeated it multiple times, and she rudely started over again asking the same questions, questioning our English understanding!) We chose not to use foul language because we are civilized people, but this ruined our mood even before getting the car! This complaint is specifically for the operator. The male staff who came to pick us up was very nice. He explained the situation briefly, helped us with our luggage, and guided us to the shuttle bus. Kudos to him!
No shuttle service, required prior reservation. I waited at the airport for over half an hour before they picked me up. This isn't the main issue. At the store, they said buying insurance wasn't mandatory, but if I didn't buy insurance at the store, I had to pay a $1000 deposit. Buying insurance for around $25 meant no deposit. Despite stating that I already purchased insurance through the rental service, they still made me buy it again. I chose the option for two free drivers when booking, but at the store, they still charged extra for the second driver. Very frustrating!

The pick up place was not clearly marked nor clearly described in the confirmation email. I called twice when I arrived at the airport and they were unable to tell me where it was. I waited for ages and there were many others left in the rain when I was eventually picked up.
Like: The car was comfortable, the staff friendly, easy to set up and pay and return. Would recommend. Dislike: The first lady we talked to didn't seem to be in the best mood and didn't seem like she wanted to help us. Once we got the car it was hard to get out because there was a van in front of us in the main lot for ~7 min.
The car was in great condition. 5 stars. It had safety features included in it which was a plus. The car was almost ready on arrival. They had to fit the baby seat but didn’t take long. The counter staff during drop off was courteous helpful and excellent. The lady during pickup was ok, had cigarette and smelled of smoke.

There was no Corolla. I ended up with a Nissan, which had a decent-sized trunk. The car wasn't very new. Initially, I thought it wasn't full on fuel, but later realized the fuel gauge was inaccurate. Overall, it was acceptable.
They recommended buying their insurance, but we declined. The staff didn't show any displeasure; instead, they waived the second driver fee for us. Great service!
