Like: The team at Europcar were great, even though we did not get the car we reserved they looked after us with providing an upgrade, it was a nice surprise my kids are still talking about the Jaguar SUV we drove to Melbourne in. Dislike: Our only disappointment was the fact we did not get the car we reserved due to heavy smoker, however the Europcar team came to the rescue and upgraded our vehicle, very nice touch considering the situation.
“Overall a good experience but delays despite calling the day previous”
About Europcar:8.0/10
Like: Car was what we needed to carry 4 adults and 2 infants under 3years. Dislike: Confusion over where the cars was being picked up from and fitting child seats despite taking the time to confirm all the details (including correcting some confusion over type of child seats required) the day before arriving with the domestic terminal staff by phone.
Like: When I arrived I asked and got a free upgrade to a Hyundai iq which was ideal because of the long trip I had. The car was great good on fuel real easy to drive and it was brand new. Would actually recommend buying one Dislike: There’s not much I didn’t like except I had to extend my hire one extra day which cost almost half the price as the whole hire which wasn’t ideal but all in great service
Friendly staff, but the process took too long. There were only 5 people ahead, but we waited for an hour. Not sure what those foreigners were talking about, but each took a long time. On the other hand, a Chinese customer with a pre-booked order got through very quickly.
Service from Europcar was wonderful after arriving at the service desk to collect my car and being told I had no booking, the staff member went to the effort to search for my booking. I was booked out of the international terminal not the domestic. He went out of his way to ensure I had a vehicle from the domestic instead and I was even upgraded at no cost.
“Preferable to use big companies; third-party can cause issues.”

I went to pick up the car with a printed order and English translation. A rude overweight woman saw I was Chinese and demanded an international driving permit and NATI certified translation. Ended up not renting the car. I asked for a non-rental certificate, but she said I wasn't her customer and should contact the third-party. Really bad experience. I then rented a car from AVIS without any issues. Definitely a bad review for this company!
The female staff member was slow and kept wandering off to talk to others. She seemed discriminatory towards Chinese people, asking if I was Chinese, and once confirmed, the paperwork became excessive and time-consuming. Every single document was copied multiple times, which was not required at other counters or with other tourists. Previously, we rented from other companies and the process took only 5 minutes. She took over 45 minutes even though I emphasized I was only renting for half a day and was in a hurry. Despite being clear that I didn't need anything extra, she insisted on adding an extra driver fee (which I didn't have to pay on previous days in Australia) and sneakily added full insurance despite my refusal. Due to the time pressure, I didn't notice it until later. If I could rate her negatively, I certainly would. Never renting from this company again.
Extremely poor, the worst rental experience. Promised a Range Rover but got a Highlander. At the time, both QEEQ and Europcar clearly stated it was a downgrade. Where's the refund they promised? They denied it after I used the car?
Extremely poor, the worst car rental experience. Promised a Land Rover but gave a Highlander instead, and at that time both QEEQ and Europcar clearly acknowledged it was a downgrade. What about the promised refund? After using the car, they denied responsibility.
Keep the car thab the customer has booked for! I wasted too much time to get substitute. Tell the customer if you have damages rather than just put a little line on the contract. Not nice! Never again from you.
Both the vehicle and the service are good. However, they did not accept QEEQ's insurance and required me to purchase additional insurance at the store. QEEQ has accepted the complaint and responded quickly.
Processing at the airport counter was a bit slow. The staff did not proactively inspect the car when handing it over, but the return process was quicker.
