Initially, I booked a Citroën, but they gave me a Hyundai of the same class instead. The Hyundai was not up to expectations - it felt underpowered, and the driver assistance features couldn't be turned off. Although it was a new car, it didn't feel very good. The rental company charged a deposit as a transaction, not a pre-authorization, and it took a month for it to be canceled. I was quite worried during that period.
8.3Nice start - terrible ending with fines extorsion.
Dear Sirs,
they made an outrageous extortion of fines.
We have not scratched the wheel cover - and all tires were black when the car was returned - so how come Surprice rent company sent us a picture where one wheel has now mark made with white chalk- pretending to be street paint - it is impossible to run into a curb and make this mark - to square. The wheel is always rotating so no such marks are possible - basic geometry.
This is a simple false claim on car rental company side - and extortion of fines. (do they do it to every car that has not purchased overinflated insurance with Surprice rent?)
And they charge 100 eur for a car wheel cover!!!!
I will post proper opinions on several websites about this case.

My experience of car rental in Malta turned out OK. On collection of the car the rental company charged a location fee I was not aware of. The car itself was disappointing, very damaged inside and out. Seemed to be an old car, 65000 miles on the clock, not normally what you expect with rental cars. Other than that I had no problems with fuel or any other aspect of the rental, lots of reviews for this company in Malta were not very good, I did not have a problem. Qeeq got the location charge returned when I got back.
8.7Booking with QEEQ was easy; mechanical condition of rental car wasn't great
Car had a faulty indicator from the beginning of the hire - only noticed when we were on the road, and the counter closed when we left. Car was also displaying the warning spanner sign - service 600km overdue. Not really what you want from a rental car. It also had a very poor 1st and 2nd gear change - stiff and difficult to engage.

Office - basic office, some staff roaming around. Up-sell is a must here so better be prepared for assertive approach. Apart from that no other comments.
Costs - the rate was good so I chose them. They blocked EUR 1200 + EUR 150 for fines. Get it back within 72hrs after drop off. Inspection is quick but I left power charger in the car and they haven't replied. My bad.
Giles was very friendly and went out of his way to replace a fuse to ensure our car chargers and GPS was working prior to leaving the facility. Best customer service I’ve seen in a long time. This man deserves a raise!!
Booked Citroen Berlingo category and got a downgrade to a smaller car. I couldn’t put all my family luggage in. The staff was very helpful to solve the problem. Got a bigger car after some discussions. However, in a dire condition. One side was very scratched, the side doors didn’t close properly and I got it with an empty tank instead of ‘full to full’ according to my contract.
Good service but very confusing to find. They told us to go to the upper floor of the airport but their office wasn't there; upon calling them, we were told to wait at the taxi area to be picked up and driven to the actual location (some 10 minutes away by car). They were quick once we got there.
Car book was “economy” so I expected a panda or fiesta but was given a Citroen C1 which is classified as a “mini”.
Pick up desk was stated as in the terminal but was about 3 miles away.
The car was old, dented and dirty.
Did not get the car I had however got similar sized car. The car condition was not very good. Customer service was good no problems picking or dropping the car. Word of advise take as much pictures and video of the car before pick up.

avis rang me at 7.24am because the client before insisted to contact me to see if his phone was forgotten in the car, then got poor apologies from avis saying it was the client who asked...am i not a client to be considered?
4.3We were penalised for wanting the car we booked!
Tried to give us a smaller car than we had booked, after an already long wait. Then said they’d look for a bigger car - it took 45 mins to be confirmed they had one, then another 20 mins for it to be delivered. Got to the car park and there were lots of the vehicle type we had been allocated and we were given the oldest, most dilapidated car possible - high mileage, stained seats and interior, missing wing mirror cover, steering wheel was worn, poor fitting boot liner. It was a mess! We figured at least they wouldn’t notice any damage as there was no space left to damage! Wouldn’t book through them again.

Car was supplied with a not quite full tank of fuel. Reception desk staff did not seem interested in helping as the staff who hand over cars appeared to be on a break. Peugot 3008 supplied was in good condition but not convinced this could be classified as a full size estate.
Would not use again, Prepaid all costs upfront for a Skoda Estate or similar - they tried to give me a Suzuki Baleno. Then charged me additional Vat and Taxes plus a mandatory prepaid fuel service which I did not want.

Was forced to pay extra at pick up as they wouldn’t accept insurance paid for at booking. Said it wasn’t valid as it wasn’t their own insurance. (Actually didn’t pay and took the risk). Then wouldn’t accept my bank card so had to add my husband as a driver to use his card which cost more. None of this made clear at time of booking. Man was incredibly unhelpful.
