This is the most formal company in Sri Lanka, with counters at the airport and five-star hotels. Although their prices are slightly higher than local car rental companies, local companies might provide you with 5-6-year-old vehicles like the Sunny and Corolla. Their cars are relatively new, all within 40,000 kilometers. I had an incident and the insurance was very prompt. It was a minor scratch, and everything was covered. Very satisfied.
The rental company staff's English communication and service attitude were average. After all the formalities were completed, I was expecting a handshake and a thank you, but the staff just turned and left without even looking back.
The vehicle's condition was generally satisfactory.
There was some damage when I returned the car. I had purchased separate insurance, and I need to wait for the rental company's repair and contact (they pre-charged me $300 for the repair). A week has passed since I returned the car, and I haven't been contacted about the repair status or cost yet.
When I inquired domestically, the website staff clearly informed me that the rental company would take me to get a temporary driving license for an additional $50 service fee. However, they ultimately charged me $70 when handing over the car.
“Easy booking and friendly service with value for money”
About Europcar:10.0/10
I had contacted Europcar prior to my arrival and they had assured that the process will be smooth. Their representative Mr. Nilantha was supportive during the handover and takeover process which went smooth. Sri Lanka is currently facing an issue with fuel and i suggest customers to plan their trips accordingly.
About QEEQ:9.0/10
Booking process was easy and I received the value for money experience as expected. Customer service was excellent as they had called me to ask if the return of the vehicle was smooth.II hhad faced an issue which was lack of communication and wanted qeeq to help me out with any contact details to handover. Unfortunately I was sent with the generic details and that wasn't helpful. Overall experience was great and sure I'll be using your services next time.
I reserved a Toyota Previa, but the owner said they never had this car and gave me a Nissan NV350 used by a travel agency. The car was large and difficult to drive, and the interior was dirty and messy. It was completely different from what I paid for.
The car was delivered late, the vehicle was quite old, and response time to messages was slow. I had to call to get responses, and sometimes calls were rejected.
Started looking for the SR Rent A Car counter at the airport arrival hall but couldn't find it... After asking around, I found someone holding a sign... Then I took a 15-minute ride to their office, and the entire process, including paperwork and car pickup, took about 30 minutes. Everything went smoothly with no extra fees. The handover included checking the mileage, fuel gauge, and car paint. Any issues were noted and photographed for upload to QEEQ.
Extremely poor experience. It's best to drive a hybrid car in Sri Lanka; otherwise, fuel consumption is too high. The roads are narrow, whether it's mountain roads or highways, and there are tuk-tuks, pedestrians, motorcycles, and cars all crammed together, moving quickly and not giving way to each other. The most unacceptable part was that the car we rented didn't have a spare tire. The rough road conditions and dangerous mountain roads caused a flat tire, and we found out there was no spare tire. The rental company refused to cover the loss and even threatened to charge a minimum fee of 500 Euros. After returning the car, they deducted over 2000 RMB from my bank card without any explanation, and we still haven't received a reason. Additionally, they charged $55 for a temporary driver's permit, saying they would email it to us if needed, but we never received the permit even by the time we returned the car.
First of all, I chose a Nissan model, but when I picked up the car, there were no Nissan vehicles available; instead, they gave me a Malaysian brand car with poor performance.
Secondly, there were extra charges. When returning the car, there was a minor scratch on the fender. The staff assured me the repair cost would be 5000 Sri Lankan Rupees, but they actually charged a 49000 Rupee deposit for the repairs, which was not refunded.
We rented Car from Easycars(Europe cars). Car was on time delivery. They gave us very good Honda Hybrid car and car was good and staff was co-operative. We may rent again from them.
We drove car for more than 5 days in different places of SriLanka.

Booked car was compact class (Toyota Aqua), but was given car from class mini (Perodua Bezza). And the staff of rental told us that it's better car. It was a blatant lie! So we paid more for worse car! It was disgusting! Rental is fully scammers. The car was in terrible condition: big dents, tire tread completely erased, dirt in the car, car suspention problems... They use the fact that you have nowhere to go because you need a car and pretend they don’t understand your English. If you book their car, be careful, insist on your own and check everything very carefully.
Finally I have to say that it is not a real Europcar, all cars are given from local rental SR rent a car.
So be very careful booking car in this area.
Communicated with the company's staff via email, and they agreed to deliver the car to our hotel in Colombo. The young man who helped us with the temporary driving permit was quite enthusiastic. He facilitated the process at the Colombo DMV, speeding things up (even though there was a dedicated counter for foreigners, there were many Indians and Bangladeshis getting permits). The service fee was 80 USD, which probably included some tips for the DMV officials. The process took about 50 minutes, and we successfully obtained the temporary permit. At our request, the young man took us to a supermarket and a gas station before we hit the road.
