The line at the London airport branch was very slow that day, and the Google navigation was inaccurate, which made me anxious when I couldn't find the drop-off point. Finally, I asked a local taxi driver and found it. The staff was nice, nothing unpleasant happened. It wasn't until my deposit was released today that I felt confident giving a fair review. 4 stars, it's okay.
We arrived at HERTZ earlier than the scheduled time, and the reserved car model was not available. The staff said they could only offer an electric car or a manual transmission car unless I paid double the order price for an upgrade. I declined and decided to wait. After waiting for nearly 2 hours, another experienced staff member managed to provide me with an SUV one size smaller than what I had reserved. I had booked a small SUV, which was supposed to fit three 24-inch suitcases in the trunk, but they gave me a compact SUV that barely fit two 24-inch suitcases. After placing the luggage, there was barely room for even a large bottle of water in the trunk. Having rented cars internationally five or six times, this was the only time a rental company downgraded my car model. The service at HERTZ Heathrow Airport branch was really disappointing. The car itself was in good condition, quite new, with only a few thousand miles on it.
At pickup, they said no cars in the same category were available, we had to upgrade. If not, we would have to wait for four hours, but I arrived at 8 PM, so I had to upgrade and ended up paying an additional £1000 for the 16 days.
Overall satisfied, especially with the patient explanation of various terms when picking up the car, and the good condition of the vehicle. I filled the tank before returning the car, but upon reaching the airport location, I noticed the fuel level was slightly below full. So, I went out again to top it up. Upon my second return, the staff did not inform me or give any hints and just printed a bill (I assume). I took it and went to the airport. At the airport, I discovered an additional charge of £7.62, presumably for the fuel shortage, apart from the usual rental fee and taxes. Calling them later, I found out their service time was over (after 18:00). I don't understand this practice, and maybe the staff was careless, but I am not satisfied with this outcome.
