Very satisfied with the car rental in Australia. Quick pick-up, professional service, no unnecessary insurance upselling. Reminder: your credit card needs to have international payment enabled; it's good to have a backup card. Driving on the left in Australia is easy to adapt to, especially since the driver sits on the right. Also, remember that besides using GPS, you can't play with your phone in the car, or you might get fined several hundred AUD if caught.
Overall satisfied, but slightly disappointed not to get the reserved car model. The sedan was replaced with an SUV. The throttle lag of the MG is much greater compared to Toyota, very hard to get used to. It started slowly while making a U-turn at an intersection, almost blocking the car behind… I hope I won't encounter an MG model next time.
We booked a compact SUV, but the rental company initially provided a Kona, which is classified as a small SUV on the rental site. The company explained that their classification differs from the rental site, and for them, a ASX and a Kona are the same category. Fortunately, we found an ASX on site and eventually got it. Otherwise, it would have been a hassle with the price difference dispute, and more importantly, a small SUV wouldn't have fit our luggage.
In addition to credit and debit cards, you can now pay for online car rentals with cryptocurrency! Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) are accepted. Curious about how long a Bitcoin transaction takes or how to pay with Bitcoin? Read our FAQs for more details.
