Alamo in Honolulu is huge, the staff is very nice, and the responsibilities are clearly divided: front desk handles paperwork, parking lot handles car delivery, and there's an exit registration for car inspection. However, I was not satisfied this time because the front desk secretly upgraded the luxury model. Since it was still within the full-size SUV category I originally booked, I didn't notice. Moreover, the contract indicated an upgrade period longer by one day than my actual rental period. I thought it was just a general note and didn't ask more questions, but eventually, there was an additional $25 daily upgrade fee.
The staff informed us that the reserved car only had basic insurance and asked if we needed additional coverage. After we declined, they did not push us further, only reminded us to drive carefully at our own risk. There were few compact cars available, but the small car was very economical, only consuming two fuel bars over two days. A $10 refuel before returning the car was enough to fill it up. Not opting for a full tank return was a wise decision.
Upon returning the car to the store, they checked the fuel level and vehicle condition, and told us we were good to go within a minute. Very efficient.
In addition to credit and debit cards, you can now pay for online car rentals with cryptocurrency! Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) are accepted. Curious about how long a Bitcoin transaction takes or how to pay with Bitcoin? Read our FAQs for more details.
