Huge scam!!!! They said there were no issues when I returned the car, but when I got back home, I received a damage fine, even though I had full insurance. What made me the most angry was the Hertz staff. In Edinburgh, we paid for parking but still got a fine. After returning the car, we went to the front desk to discuss how to handle it. Initially, the Hertz employee was very nice and asked us to send the ticket and our parking receipt to Hertz, promising they would handle it. But then, all of a sudden, they changed their tune and told us to pay the fine first, saying they would help us get a refund from the city council. They even made us pay the fine right there on the spot, despite us risking being late for our flight. After paying, the Hertz employee immediately became hostile and ignored us, serving other customers instead. It felt very intentional and extremely frustrating, like something out of a TV drama. When we got angry and demanded an explanation, they said it was not Hertz's responsibility and we should deal with it ourselves! Later, we realized it was a trick. By making us pay, they shifted the dispute to be between us and the Edinburgh government. To appeal the fine, we would need to provide the car owner's information, but we couldn't process it without that. Only Hertz could resolve this mistake, but to avoid hassle, they tricked us! Otherwise, they would have been charged, and we would have had to provide proof, making it a dispute between the car owner and Edinburgh's government. Sadly, when I was studying in the UK, I heard about how bad Hertz staff were, and many people preferred to choose Europcar even if it was more expensive. Now I've seen it for myself, what a terrible company. The service is extremely poor, whether picking up or returning the car! PS: We waited forty minutes for the Hertz shuttle at the airport!

Overall, I am fairly satisfied. I deliberately chose a well-known rental company, but the service was just average. Perhaps it's because I haven't experienced worse service and thus have no basis for comparison. First, the car pickup. Since my flight was delayed by almost 4 hours, after nearly 20 hours of travel, I was utterly exhausted. At the pickup point, my mind was not very clear, and since English is not my first language, the staff kept recommending a different car, saying it had more space, better condition, and the price difference was minimal. I agreed, but it turned out the total cost was almost double my original estimate. I had to insist on my original choice, and the staff was visibly unhappy. Whose fault is that? You wasted my time, and I haven't complained. Then, regarding my rental car, I was asked if I needed insurance. Didn't they see my order? Insurance is included. Seeing I had a child with me, they asked if I needed a baby seat. Of course, I did, as I had already reserved one when booking. Finally, when the pickup list was printed, I noticed an extra charge of over 100 pounds for the baby seat. I clarified that the baby seat was included in my booking. The staff didn't believe me until I showed the printed order, and reluctantly they removed the charge, keeping the final cost close to my booking price with no extra fees. As for the car, the website stated it could seat 7 people with space for 2 large and 2 small suitcases. However, upon picking up the car, we realized that if we wanted to seat 7 people, there would be no room for luggage. If we wanted to carry luggage, we could only use it as a 5-seater. We were a group of five, including elderly and children, so we wanted the comfort of a 7-seater. Instead, we had to make do. Maybe it was due to our lack of understanding of the car model?! In general, there were some other minor hiccups, and it took about an hour just to pick up the car and queue. Afterwards, everything went smoothly. The car was easy to drive, the interior was practical, and the space was ample. Returning the car was also very smooth, taking only 5 minutes. The only regret is that I forgot to take a picture with the car.

I rented a car for two weeks this time. It was my first time renting a car in the UK. Hertz was quite reliable. I originally wanted to rent a Juke, but since there were no cars available, they upgraded me to a Mercedes directly. Returning the car was super fast. I was supposed to return it on the morning of October 12th, but I was worried the return process would be complicated, so I returned it on the evening of the 11th instead. The return process was incredibly fast. Not sure if it was because I bought full insurance. I asked if there would be any additional penalties or fees, and they said no, all done. I hope there won't be any extra charges later. Overall, I'm quite satisfied.
