Picked up the car from Hertz at Union Square in San Francisco at 19:00 local time on the 19th. We scouted the location a day before, so it was quite smooth. The pickup spot is on the first floor of the Westin at Union Square, on the right-hand side at a small counter. Waited for an hour to pick up the car. They offered us a free upgrade to a larger vehicle, but we declined as we were not comfortable driving a much bigger car. The counter attendant's attitude was indifferent, probably because our English wasn't fluent enough. Without asking, she issued us a bill that included various extras, but QEEQ's customer service helped us cancel the unnecessary insurance costs promptly.
Hertz's service is very standardized, but the efficiency of car pickup is not very high. I waited for an hour at their Union Square location to get the car. The vehicle had less than 5000 kilometers, was clean and very new. However, I booked an Altima Classic online but received a Versa Classic instead. Not sure if these two cars are considered 'same class,' although the latter was sufficient, its power and space are noticeably less. It's worth mentioning that the car return efficiency was extremely high. At the huge Hertz return area at Los Angeles airport, the staff checked the car in 2 minutes and then a shuttle bus took me back to my hotel near the airport. Overall, quite satisfied.
1. The pickup address in the order was a hotel, and it took us a long time to find a very small HERTZ desk with a sign directing us to the storefront on the next street.
2. Since my scheduled pickup time was 2:30 PM and I actually arrived around 5:30 PM, the staff seemed annoyed as they were getting ready to leave.
3. For some reason, I reserved a Ford Focus but was given a Nissan Versa. Don't tell me it's the same category. Since HERTZ was already closed and I needed to drive off, I just accepted it.
Very convenient. Initially, they only asked for the online order printout and then requested the return slip, but there was no need for a translated driver's license. The staff were very friendly. I mentioned that I needed a car with a USB port, and they patiently searched the system for several minutes to find one. The vehicle was brand new, having only driven about 300 miles. Picking up the car was also very convenient, right in the hotel's garage.
