This time, I rented from Avis in both Jordan and Israel. Before the pandemic, I felt that Avis had newer cars and relatively better prices. However, this time I was a bit disappointed. The cars were older and there were fewer models to choose from. Especially at the rental location in Israel, I almost couldn't rent a car because the trunk was too small. When I wanted to pay extra for a larger car, they told me there were no other options, despite it being the off-season. This location was actually quite big with plenty of cars in the parking lot, but most of them were for sale. This was the first time I saw Avis selling cars, and there were more cars for sale than for rent. I guess the three years of the pandemic had a big impact. I hope Avis can recover soon.
Big company, very reliable. Returned the car 4 hours late due to a flight issue I mentioned to AVIS a day earlier. The AVIS staff on duty was very understanding and informed the next shift. They didn't charge me an overdue fee.
The AVIS at The Venetian is a small counter in the corner of the lobby with only one person on duty. After completing the paperwork, we took a long time to find the parking lot. We went back to ask the employee for directions, but she couldn't leave her post. It took us almost half an hour to find the garage! The Venetian has too many elevators, and they're too complicated; not all elevators go to the garage. But luckily, our luck struck again! We booked a Ford ESCAPE, but when we picked up the car, we were given a high-end EDGE 3.5 instead. It was so advanced that my dad couldn't even start the engine at first, and I had to wake up my husband across the ocean for help.
The store staff speak a little Chinese and the location is quite easy to find, just below the Ramada Hotel. After arriving in Antalya, it’s a bit of a distance from the bus station. Since we did not trust taxis much, we asked a passerby at the bus station. A kind man from the metro company gave us a free shuttle ride nearby. When we arrived, it was just their opening time so we completed the procedure quickly without any crowd. However, we arrived an hour earlier than our reservation time, so the rental period was calculated as starting an hour earlier. Originally, we planned to rent for 4 days, but the rental agreement stated 4.1 days, which they rounded up to 5 days without informing us. On the last day, after returning the car, we went to the service desk at the return point and had a staff member adjust the rental based on the actual usage time. This resulted in a refund of 699 lira, about 1400 RMB. If we hadn’t noticed this, we would have paid significantly more unnecessarily. This is a reminder to carefully check rental agreements.
