The car rental counter at the airport is large and very convenient. If you are under 25 years old, there is a young driver fee of $25 per person per day, which is very expensive. The fee is based on the birthdate on your ID, even being one day short won't exempt you. After negotiating with the counter staff, they said the young driver fee couldn't be waived but they upgraded our car for free. We got a Dodge Challenger, an American muscle car, which was awesome!
There are plenty of shuttle buses, so there's almost no wait. However, the counter staff will still try to upsell some additional services. There's a wide selection of cars in the chosen category. Haven't tried the self-service yet.
The Alamo sales representative insisted that we buy additional personal liability insurance, saying that our package did not include it. We went back and forth for over an hour. Later, we carefully looked at the car rental receipt and saw that it did include the additional insurance (though only the state's minimum coverage). We discussed this with the manager on duty and had them sign. Surprisingly, they then said, 'You can choose to buy this insurance if you want.' In conclusion: we were initially misled into buying it, but then we got a refund. It was a very unpleasant experience.
