When picking up the car, we clearly stated that we don't need additional insurance as we had already bought it in China! But they still added expensive insurance! The confirmation form was in Italian, and we didn’t check it carefully before signing! That was really careless of us!
1. Reserved a Mercedes A-Class but got a Ford instead.
2. On-site, they pushed various insurance products.
3. The return location is extremely hidden and very hard to find. I drove around the airport 6 times!
4. When I had issues at the return location, I called the company, but nobody answered.
Terrible. I've rented cars in Europe twice and it's always been extremely bad. Insurance details are not explained and they say it's free. When settling the bill, they charge an extra 3000 RMB. Be cautious in the future.
The counter staff was really pushy about us buying their extra insurance, when we refused she got nasty about it. There was damage recorded on the car at pickup however when we returned it Budget tried to claim we did it and get us to pay for the damage. It took 2 weeks to get it resolved. we were on a cruise and communication was hard. we have since read reviews online and see this kind of treatment common from Budget in the Rome Airport.
It is a shame that this location gives Budget a bad reputation as we have rented from Budget numerous times and never had any problems.
