No upselling, received a quick pass email in advance, directly picked up the car at the store, and was informed about some precautions. Italian highways are divided into yellow, white, and blue lanes. Yellow corresponds to domestic ETC, white for cash, and blue for card payments. First, take a ticket at the entry point, then insert it into the toll machine at the exit and pay the amount displayed. It's quite convenient!
They forced me to buy insurance, saying they would cancel the booking if I refused. I had no choice but to comply because being in such a remote area without a car would be very inconvenient. Initially, they told me the insurance would cost an additional 19 euros per day, but when I paid with my card, it turned out to be 27 euros per day. When I questioned why the price was higher than the agreed 19 euros, they claimed there had been a mistake and that the card charge was correct. Beware of this!
The service was excellent, and the actual vehicle provided was a Q2L. The car failed to start once, which led to parking at a toll station and receiving a 60-euro fine. Other than that, everything went smoothly, and both pickup and drop-off processes were very seamless.
They let me choose between two cars. Both were nearly new with around 15,000 kilometers. I decisively chose the A4 wagon since the Alfa Romeo's blue color was too eye-catching and not well-suited for Europe.
You can pick up and drop off the car early without any fees. The car is in great condition, and existing scratch records were already noted during the pickup. The entire drop-off process is self-service, very reliable. I have rented from Europcar several times before and highly recommend them.
The staff provided good service, but the car given was not the one I booked. Since I only used it for one day, I didn't pursue the issue. I originally booked an Alfa Romeo, but was given a Kia instead.
They create a tense atmosphere without giving clear instructions and then find opportunities to collect tips. Small dents as tiny as a grain of rice are completely undetectable from a single angle and require multi-angle photos to clarify and prove. The fuel gauge at pickup showed a remaining range of 520 kilometers, and at return it showed 670 kilometers, but I was fined 35 euros because the fuel gauge was slightly different. I strongly advise everyone to refill the tank completely within 3 kilometers before returning the car.
