1. Long waiting times, and people cut in line. 2. Signage for car pickup and paperwork locations is not clear. 3. We had already paid for the one-way rental fee on a third-party site, but were informed at the counter that we needed to pay again because the rental company does not recognize third-party payments for one-way rentals; all such fees must be paid in person. 4. The one-way rental issue delayed our car pickup, but the rental company started the rental time from when we arrived at the counter, not when we got the car (almost an hour difference), and there were no warnings about this. After returning the car, we were charged an overtime fee for being late.
Overall, a very unpleasant rental experience. Considering using Ctrip for future rentals, as it’s said to be cheaper and more convenient than the current service.
The drop off experience was abysmal. The location was closed for our planned drop off time and nobody communicated anything to us. There was no drop box available as the business park was locked. We then called customer service who was unhelpful and proceeded to put us on hold for 45 minutes before hanging up on me. We decided to take the car to Luton airport as it was the nearest open location. The young man at reception was helpful, but I was already fuming about the additional time and stress we had to go through to drop off the car.
