I went to a small place, and the car was right in the parking lot. Avis was excellent, the service was good too. I returned the car at 8 PM yesterday, and by 8 AM this morning, the £200 pre-authorization was canceled. Compared to back home, the car condition was excellent, and the service was great. Moreover, there were no random charges or unnecessary insurance add-ons. This might be because the local branch can't see the insurance I bought on QEEQ. I think QEEQ didn’t coordinate this well.
The car provided was already large enough, but they recommended a more expensive one, which I wasn't very happy about. Adding an additional driver costs £14 per day. We picked up the car in London and drove to Oxford and Cambridge. The countryside roads in the UK are narrow and traffic is fast, so careful driving is necessary.
At the store, we were informed that the driver's age did not meet the requirements, and we were forcibly downgraded. We saw all the cars in the store at a glance, and there was no car that matched our booking. However, the keys were already prepared. It was obvious that they knew about the age issue in advance, but neither the rental company nor the booking platform informed us beforehand. We were aware of the young driver fee, but did not expect to be downgraded. Luckily, the car they gave us had decent space in the back, and we could fit our luggage.
The young lady at Avis desk was extremely friendly and helpful.
