The Chinese staff at the Auckland city pickup location gave a biased explanation about the full tank, leading to misunderstanding. I didn't know I had to purchase a full tank when picking up the car. I thought I just needed to refill the amount used when returning. I returned the car with more than 80% fuel, but they didn't refund anything. This method is deceptive as the car rental company always benefits since no one uses up the entire tank.
We encountered a Chinese-speaking service, probably Chinese staff. They said our planned route was very difficult and rushed, not to trust Google's driving time, and that one tank of gas wouldn't be enough and we needed an additional 10 dollars of fuel. They suggested we could buy a full tank and return it empty. Lastly, they implied that our rental car was poor. However, the route was great, we had plenty of time, the car was easy to drive, and we only used three-quarters of the gas. Disappointed with being misled by our own people.
They warmly welcome customers and carefully explain driving precautions, especially highlighting some specific road segments. They also clean the car in advance and wait for customers to arrive.
The vehicle was pretty good, but the store charged a Credit/Debit Card Surcharge, which I didn't anticipate beforehand, resulting in an extra charge of 2.18 NZD.
