Had to wait over an hour, complete waste of time. I would never recommend greenmotion. The cost more than doubled when accident insurance was applied. Cost was over £100 for 3 days. Although I hired for 3 days, I was only allowed 2 days mileage not 3 , so then had to pay another £10 for excess mileage . Overall I was an expensive disaster !!
Total Failure.
Vehicle was collected in the pouring rain and we had to trust that there was some damage on the plastic lip under the bumper.
When the vehicle was returned there was apparently more damage to this plastic lip at the bottom of the bumper in the form of a 45mm scratch.
I cannot see how anyone could distinguish the difference between what was apparently there already, which was not visible, and what is claimed has happened since the vehicle was in my care.
I am certain that no damage occurred to the vehicle whilst it was in my care.
Out of interest I phoned Kia in Edinburgh to see if the £277 which Greencar are claiming for this addition damage to the already damaged front plastic bumper lip was reasonable. The price for this component is £22.59p
This is simply insurance fraud and I am currently taking legal advice for which i shall be claiming my costs unless the £200 of my excess returned to me immediately.
Absolutely shocking service. Was not informed that there was a maximum mileage, even though I mentioned I was driving 200 miles each way (which would exceed the maximum) when I collected the car.
Rather than offering me the option of unlimited mileage, knowing my journey length, I was stung with a £50 charge upon returning the vehicle. The member of staff dealing with me was rude and condescending, unwilling to listen to my calmly delivered grievance. There was no explanation of why I wasn’t offered the unlimited mileage option (despite my request for this), while he aggressively kept repeating that he would be removing the mileage charge from my deposit. Rude, obnoxious and badly-trained money grabbers.
I have hired cars all over the world for both work and leisure travel, and will not be using Green Motion in the future. Will ensure my friends, colleagues and clients are also aware to avoid.
The waiting time and handling documents takes very long. Counter was understaffed. Also the creditcard deposit is very high for such a small car and the refund takes a long time. This huge amount is blokking my creditcard for to many day's

I booked an intermediate-sized SUV and was given a BMW Mini Countryman. It was way too tiny for the group/luggage I had so we had no choice but to upgrade.
It also felt like the whole Green Motion team was very unorganized. They couldn't find keys for certain cars and didn't know what they had in stock. It took over an hour to collect the vehicle.

Waited almost 3 hours for car collection.
Very difficult customer service staff, and very strange document outlining vehicle damage and possible damage to underside of car bumper: all of which would be chargeable up to £1250
Terrible customer experience with Green Motion. They rent the cars out cheap but put every conceivable obstacle in your way to make you "have to" get their inflated insurance. First I was told I hadn't had my full licence long enough, then they changed their mind?! Then they told me that in order to get the car I had to provide a letter from my boss on company letter head as I was using a corporate card. This is not explained anywhere at all that I can see, and not possible in the time frame. When I went to leave I complained to the boss, who then allowed me to use my card (so their rules are bogus), upgraded the car, gave us a free extra driver, and unlimited mileage, BUT we had to get £400 excess cover at a cost of £120 pounds for 5 days. We already had insurance but were stuck and had to take it. So £33 car hire costed £153. But PUSH THEM ON THEIR BOGUS PRICES
Finding and waiting for the shuttle (15 minutes) could of been better. Also, it took a while to check in as we were the last ones off the shuttle and the line only grew longer as we were there. Otherwise all went well
It took a long time to get all the admin sorted as I was not aware I should have my NI number and DVLA code and clearing done.
As I did not know my NI number I had to phone around and finally got this all sorted.
It was good that I had taken my passport along as well, because a second ID was needed.
I received great service from start to finish. The pick up was tricky to find but obvious once we'd got our bearings in the airport. We waited about 15 minutes for the shuttle bus. On arrival there were 4 staff on duty and they dealt with us promptly. The car was in fantastic condition and the staff did a thorough inspection with me at the start. They also demonstrated all features of the car as I had not driven that brand before. Staff were attentive and helpful offering local advice too. Drop off was quick and painless with no issues.

Really easy platform to use with so many deals and offers to choose from. The referral scheme is really generous. The prices were by far the best I found compared to all other comparison sites. The price drop feature also saved me an extra 10% 2 months after I made the booking which was a lovely surprise! All the information provided was accurate and there were no issues when arriving for my booking.
Green Motion were a bit of a joke. We had to wait outside a temporary portacabin in the cold and rain for over an hour waiting to be served. There was only 2 staff dealing with new rentals and so only a limited no of people could fit inside. When I eventually was served I was given a small Toyota Ayho car. It was tiny and I told her I booked the equivalent of a VW polo for 5 adults and 2 suitcases. I had to put one of my suitcases in the back seat as the boot just managed to have 1 case and no more. I told the staff this car was unacceptable but she wasn’t interested and said this was the car I booked. I was given an option to upgrade to a Mercedes which was just laughable. She wasn’t in the least bit interested. I felt sorry for the rest of the people standing out in the cold and rain and so just took the car. I could barely use it my whole trip as it was far to small and so had to rely on friends using their car for our sightseeing around Scotland.
I’m sorry but I will never book with you again if this is the hire company you use.
