At the airport, go to the counter, present the booking confirmation, passport, driver's license, and IDP, and wait a moment for their shuttle bus. It will take about 15 minutes to reach their office. After a brief vehicle inspection, you are ready to go! Very simple and convenient!
The Car exceeded our expectation, the service also, highly recommended. If you are planning to drive there make sure to take the card for road tax as you will be constantly paying it and there won’t be other option in some cases than the automatic payment.
The car we hired was clean and in good condition. They did not have a E Toll pass so we had to have cash on hand to go through tolls. We requested snow tires which were fitted but didn’t give us a window scraper so we had to buy one. No other complaints
I expected that I might be late in return the car when I rented it because I was travelling with 2 kids.
As QEEQ suggested, I checked with Times staff when I rented the car. Times staff at the airport counter told me that JPY880 per hour, JPY1760 for 2 hours.
However, when I returned the car at Times store, another Times staff charged me 6000 JPY. They said 2-hour is within 1-6 hour range, so that 6-hour charge applied.
No time for me to argue as I was rushing to the airport.
After completing the car rental formalities at Narita Airport Terminal 2, we waited for almost half an hour before a vehicle was sent to take us to the nearby branch to collect the car. It turns out they wait for a group of renters to complete their paperwork before dispatching the shuttle. I recommend keeping this in mind when planning your schedule.
When picking up we asked for the unlimited toll pass which we thought they charged us for... I paid for something extra about the toll pass, then on drop off they made me pay an extra 30 000 yen. After all that they wouldn’t even drop us off at our hotel (min drive away from rental place) but instead drove us 20 mins back to the airport so we could buy train tickets back to the same area as the rental car area and then walk 15 mins to our hotel. When picking up the car I inspected the outside of the vehicle for any prior damage and the rental guy seemed insulted that I didn’t just trust everything was accounted for. Luckily I didn’t because there was a giant dent in the side of the passanger door which I’m sure they would have charged us extra for had I not pointed it out and taken photos as proof that it was like that when we picked up.
In addition to credit and debit cards, you can now pay for online car rentals with cryptocurrency! Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) are accepted. Curious about how long a Bitcoin transaction takes or how to pay with Bitcoin? Read our FAQs for more details.
