Everything was fine, except that despite having ordered as full of an insurance as was available on the website I had to get a separate insurance at the car rental place which increased the price somewhat. This intransparency was not very nice.
I booked Skoda Octavia two wheel drive. Since the vehicle was not available, Suzuki S cross four wheel drive was given during pick-up. The staff convinced us that four wheel drive is better and that the vehicle is upgraded free of cost. It made us think that we are getting a better vehicle. But it turned out that's not the case. A two wheel drive would have been more than enough for our journey. Also since we had taken a four wheel drive car, it impacted the mileage and so we had to spend a lot more on fuel.
Other than that we did not face any issue. The vehicle was given in good condition. It was good to drive.

“Nice ride, smooth booking via Qeeq, painful pickup at Lava Rentals”
About Lava:6.0/10
The car was in an amazing condition, but the pickup process was so painful.
Had to wait 45 minutes for the pickup at the airport to reach the Lava rental site and then another 90 minutes to pick up the car. Lava needs more staff to handle the demand.
About QEEQ:10.0/10
Easy and smooth booking process. Would be better if the full insurance cover could be integrated with the car rentals themselves, so they can also recognize that and don’t end up blocking a significant deposit for the excess
This is a small company, and its rental counter is not located among the cluster of car rental companies in the terminal. They said they'd hold a sign to meet us, but no one was there when we arrived. After waiting for a long time, I called the number on the rental confirmation, and they said they'd return to the terminal in 15 minutes. The person was holding a piece of A4 paper, so you need to pay attention to spot them. Their shuttle takes you to the rental location, which is about a 10–15 minute drive from the terminal. After returning the car, you'll take their shuttle bus back to the terminal. Be sure to leave enough buffer time as the shuttle is a 7-seater van, and with passengers from multiple groups plus luggage, you may have to wait for the next trip if it's full. The car we rented had over 80,000 km on it and was the worst of the three cars we rented on this trip. There were also a couple of scratches on the exterior, but they did not affect driving. Iceland's road conditions are challenging, so a 4WD is a must. During strong winds, they have a car door insurance policy and require you to hold onto the door firmly when getting out of the car to prevent damage from the wind.
Overall pretty good. The car's condition was decent, although it wasn't spotless like a brand-new vehicle. There were some scratches on the exterior and a few crumbs inside, but it was generally clean. The car drove well and handled both Highway 1 and interior routes without any issues.
Service was also good, the staff were friendly, and the price was lower compared to Hertz and Europcar. The trade-off is that the pickup and drop-off location is outside the airport, requiring you to wait for a shuttle at the airport meeting point. The ride takes about five to eight minutes. So, if you're in a rush, like catching a flight, waiting for the shuttle might make you a bit anxious. Another thing is the counter service—there's never enough staff. While they are polite and relaxed, no matter how long the queue gets, they don’t seem to hurry. They stick to their schedule strictly, clocking out on time without staying longer to help clear a long line of waiting customers. Just a heads-up: if you are returning the car and have a flight to catch, make sure to leave plenty of buffer time. Keflavík Airport is often crowded, and the efficiency of manual check-in counters is low. Personally, I’d recommend arriving at least three hours early.
