In the first check in point staff promised me to upgrade a larger car but although I waited about an hour the garage people couldn’t get are promised car but they gave me the same category SUV. Simply they made me wait an hour but didn’t keep the promised car size
“San Francisco - Highway 1 - Los Angeles - Palm Springs - Las Vegas”
About Thrifty:4.0/10
The service for picking up, switching, and returning the car was excellent. I purchased the roadside assistance insurance recommended by the receptionist when picking up the car. However, when I had a flat tire, the assistance hotline was busy for 2 hours. What's the point of the roadside assistance insurance? I hope to get a refund for the insurance.
The supplier tried every possible way to persuade us to upgrade the car and buy various insurances by claiming that the car we reserved was not available and offering a smaller one instead. We insisted on not compromising, and in the end, they gave us the car we originally booked! Didn't they say it wasn't available?! The car rental experience was extremely poor!
They overcharged me twice. First, they charged $115 for fuel even though I returned the car with a full tank. Second, despite the prepaid amount covering all costs, they charged me for a second driver's license fee. Poor service.
“I will reconsider based on the shuttle experience”
About Thrifty:9.7/10
There was no proper queuing system at the Thrifty shuttle pick up point.
We had 8 pieces of luggage (inc car seat and pram) and it was impossible for us to get on the shuttle bus that takes us from the Thrifty drop off office to LAX.
The buses that came were either full or people have no consideration that we arrived first.
We ended up having to call UberXL.
Terrible slow customer service. It took over 1 hour to stand in line and wait to pick up car. Each customer was taking over 15 minutes. Most other companies take only 5 minutes or so per customer. Terrible wait in line at 2 am in the morning. Staff had a good attitude, but when you wait that long with a 6 year old boy at that time at night your a mentally and physically done.
I booked a sedan but was strongly pushed to upgrade. When I resisted, they gave me a hatchback, claiming that the model I booked was unavailable. I ended up with a Ford Focus hatchback, only to see the model I had booked right next to it in the parking garage.
