My flight arrived in the middle of the night, and the pick-up point was relatively easy to find, but the staff had a terrible attitude and there was no Chinese service as advertised. They also didn't remind me to check for scratches or any issues with the car. Although the car worked fine during my rental period, returning it was a hassle because there were no signs pointing to the return area. I ended up driving around the airport seven or eight times before finding it, which was very frustrating. I recommend getting to the airport early when returning the car to avoid missing your flight. The attitude of the staff during the return was much better than the ones at pick-up, but they were very meticulous in inspecting the vehicle. This felt like a scam because they didn't warn about checking the car during pick-up but scrutinized it thoroughly upon return, questioning damages that were there before. Luckily, we took photos before taking the car. I strongly advise everyone to carefully inspect the vehicle and photograph any scratches when picking up the car. Make sure to note any issues on the rental agreement to avoid any disputes. I won't be choosing Thai Rent Car again next time!
We arrived at midnight (12:30), and when I presented my Hong Kong driving license and passport to pick up the car, the local staff said they wouldn't accept the Hong Kong license. After a long discussion, I had to get very angry before they finally gave us the car. It took about an hour and a half, and the most important thing is that the rental car website stated that Thailand supports direct car rentals with a Hong Kong driving license. I almost gave up but I had my wife and two kids with me, so I insisted. By the time we got the car, it was almost 3 AM, and we were very tired. I hope this situation doesn't happen again next time.
One male staff member responsible for reception was very irresponsible and extremely rude. When we arrived at the store to fill out the rental form, this staff member spoke quickly and did not explain item by item, only pointing out the required fields. When we double-checked with him to avoid mistakes, he was very impatient and deliberately mocked and ridiculed us. The first time he said one field needed the hotel name, and when I confirmed again, he shouted 'What is your name,' and I thought I misheard the first time, so I wrote down my name as he said. Then he accused me of not understanding anything, mocked us by saying 'yes yes yes in Thai,' and another staff member nearby just laughed at us, obviously ridiculing us for not understanding Thai. His attitude was consistently poor when we confirmed with him multiple times. I vacation in Thailand every year and have rented cars many times. I've never encountered such rude and uneducated service before. Later, when returning the car, the female staff member's attitude was relatively better.

About Thai Rent A Car:6.0/10
No Chinese support. The girl at the rental counter spoke good English, but the person who answered the phone when returning the car struggled a lot. Also, when picking up the car, the fuel gauge showed it could run 450 km, so I didn't pay much attention. However, after refueling before returning, it showed 580 km. Clearly, the tank wasn’t full when I picked up the car. The fuel gauge needle was around the full mark but went down quickly once driving. I felt slightly misled.
The bumper had a minor issue before, and a piece fell off during the rental period without my notice. After explaining the situation, the rental company didn't hold me responsible. That was great.
We were given a free upgrade to a VIOS. The vehicle has had a hard life, with a lot of scratches. It was very clean though. Thai Rent a Car staff were very helpful.
The parked car's side mirror was grazed by a passing motorcycle, causing no damage to the paint. According to the rules, any damage, however minor, incurs a fine of 5000 Baht, which is very unreasonable!
This company is consistent as usual. The vehicles are not new, lacking anti-theft locks, and you have to use the car key every time you open or close the door, which is very inconvenient. Most importantly, there are no parking sensors, so I need a friend to guide me every time I reverse the car in Thailand. Other companies usually have these features, but this one does not.
In addition to credit and debit cards, you can now pay for online car rentals with cryptocurrency! Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) are accepted. Curious about how long a Bitcoin transaction takes or how to pay with Bitcoin? Read our FAQs for more details.
