My flight arrived early, so I picked up the car half an hour earlier than scheduled. I was charged an extra day's fee without being informed. I only found out when returning the car. If they had told me, I could have waited half an hour. Such petty behavior from a big company!
On arrival I was informed that my choice was unavailable as the vehicle was no longer part of their fleet. I was offered a Fiat 500 convertible to replace it. This vehicle was not in my view "similar" to the Cascada I had paid for. I needed a larger car for the amount of luggage and passengers I was carrying. I am extremely disappointed with the service i received and have paid too much for the vehicle i drove which was a Fiat 500L.

This was the worst car hire experience ever! Did not got convertible as reserved. Instead a scratched hatchback after over half an hour wait. And even No apologies from Hertz. Not to speak of any compensations as I have got from other companies even from long queuing times.
Using Hertz for car renting in US a great pleasure.Italy is a totally different story.Customer service is very poor.My car broke down 40 minutes after pick up.Getting in touch with someone who at list speaks some english is almost impossible.After being stranded in the middle of nowhere for several long hours we finally got "road assistance".They simply picked they broken car and .....left us on the street with the luggage and kids in the dark.Next day,we got condition report claiming that we broke the driver side mirror with the pictures dated two weeks before we even arrived to Milan.To be even more confident.....they photoshoped my signature below....Really hard to believe,i know,but this is what my family had to come accross with.Stay away....or at list be extrimely carefull....
At the end,got the full invoice,like i used the vehicle the entire time...
When I dropped the car the parking to return the vehicle is outside now. I was wondering what happened if raining. I was by myself and with a heavy luggage. I rather prefer to drop the car inside to avoid problems if raining.

The staff were very helpful, I couldn’t fault them.
The car was in good condition, it did have quite a number of dents and scratches and the air conditioning did not work. We were in Italy during summer and at 35 degrees temperatures it got very hot and sweaty in the car. The car wasn’t as clean as I would have expected it to be either. Otherwise mechanically the car was sound.
Overall it was a good driving experience in Europe.
Hertz at Malpensa airport poorly organised. Car over 1 hour late to pickup from booked time. Car was cleaned inside but outside was filthy and muddy when we picked up and only had 3/4 of a tank of fuel. We washed the car clean ourselves on the first day we picked it up. Disappointed
