The car we rented (Jeep wrangler) wasnt there when we got there. We prepaid. They said they had two coming back and theyd call us. No call.
We called them 6 times and then they said they got one back but would only hold it for us for ONE HOUR before they released it to someone else, even though we prepaid for it.
The manager yelled at my husband; even though we had a 2 year old with us and had to schlep him ALL THE WAY BACK to the airport during rush hour traffic, and even though we paid for the car upfront.
I would NEVER EVER EVER in a million years go with them again.
I feel horrible for the poor people who work for this company. Spend $50 more and get actual service.
Dropping off was a breeze.
I was very upset to learn that even though I'd prepaid for my reservation and was told I'd not owe anything at the time of the pickup, I still had over $300 charged to my credit card (not a hold, but an actual charge). When i called Fox to clarify, I was on hold almost an hour before getting through, and when I did I was told it was a deposit on hold because Fox had not received payment from Easyrentcars...the deposit would be credited back when I returned the car. It was credited, but i was charged in essence 14 days of interest on $300 because of the charge. Luckily I had the credit available on my card but this could have been a very bad experience and still shouldn't have been the case since I was charged upfront and prepaid over $500 for the rental. Very disappointed in this.
“Easy, economical and delivering exactly what they promise!”
About FOX RENT A CAR:9.3/10
We waited quite a while for our turn at the counter to get our car, late in New Year's Eve. But the staff were courteous and efficient.
Also, the back seat of our car was filled with dog hair, both on the seat and the carpet. We took it to a car wash and tried to vacuum it ourselves, but we couldn't get the dog hair out, either. It was not pleasant.
“I would try to book with a well know company in the future due to none visiable sign for FOX”

return at 4 am was very difficult, could not find a FOX return sign at the airport to return car, had to leave it at Thrifty after coming to an end of a one way street, turned into Thrifty left car there, could not back up due to the spike strips. they need visible signage. Pick up counter did not explain the return process, almost miss my flight. Tried to call the number on the key tag at 4 am, not during business hours could not reach a person.
“Easy booking, car dinged up, not such great service at the counter”

Everything was great up until pickup and the counter staff not being at all knowledgeable or helpful regarding tolls. They asked if I wanted the toll pass, I asked what it was and they explained. I asked if there were tolls to where I was going and the woman had no idea. She started looking it up on google and found 5 tolls I would be going on. The gentleman next to her was helping someone else, however she asked him if he knew and he muttered something about not needing any tolls and which freeway I could take. He obviously knew the area better, but was not willing to help me. I waited until he was done helping the people he was with, then he walked into the back as if he was not interested in answering my question on tolls. I told the woman that was helping me "I guess he is not interested in helping me" and she replied with "I am helping you" and I replied with "well you aren't being very helpful and are not knowledgeable about the tolls so I would like to speak with someone who knew more". She proceeded to look on google and tell me I had to go on these several tolls to get to where I was going. I was baffled that I could not even go any side streets to get out of the airport without paying a toll.... as if my only option was to get the toll pass. After all this back and forth, finally someone who was a customer in line came forward and helped me. I did not need to go on any tolls afterall and all this could have been avoided had the other customer service rep been willing to help.
First clerk was quick to tell me the reservation was not with them and quickly took upon assisting other client.. once I confirmed to them that it was through Fox the 2nd clerk was very pleasant... other than this the experience was good
Signage was bad at AUS airport we went to car pickup location since thats where the signs pointed to. I had to return to the rental level where I waited in line for about 25 minutes. When I got to the counter the woman told me a cleaner went on lunch and I would have to wait an hour for one to be ready or I could get get a discounted upgrade that was ready now. I obviously objected and said my reservation time is now its not my fault things were not ready on your end. She found this unreasonable and said thats not how it works. Eventually she put me in a banged up Elantra with stained seats chipped windshield and several cracks. Last time I will use fox.
The car that I reserved was not available at pick up. I had to settle for a smaller car. I had to wait in line in the summer heat in Texas. service person did not seem to be very knowledgeable of the area around the airport.
Fox ran out of cars so we were given what was left. Never told the counter closed at midnight- only had one girl there with over 10 people in line. Waited almost an HOUR to get our car at 12:30AM. She said it was lucky she stayed or we wouldnt have gotten our car. NOT GOOD!!
Fox made me sign a no damage page before looking at the vehicle. The woman at the counter told me I had to sign to find out which car I would be getting. The car was drastically out of alignment and kept pulling to the right. while it was a newer SUV, I requested a full size car and they said none were available.

Easyrentcars.com was great. Think they need to check who they are using though.
“First and last time I will book with Fox rentals.”
About FOX RENT A CAR:5.7/10
I booked/paid for a mini-van and called Fox the day before to make sure everything was in place. I was informed that yes, everything was already paid and there was a mini-van booked for me. We arrived at Fox and was informed by the front counter staff where to go to pick up the mini-van. We got to the vehicle area and I handed a young man the paperwork. He looked at me and said there were no mini-vans left with an attitude that was like he would rather be anywhere but working there. There were 3 sets of keys hanging on the board, he looked at them and said I could have a Jeep SUV. We got to the vehicle and the black cloth front seats had something white that was spilled on them and the rear console/armrest was sticky. I started the vehicle and noticed that the gas gauge was showing 3/4 tank. We got to where we were staying, got wet washcloths/towel and washed off whatever was on the front seats and rear armrest. I also noticed there was 80,000 miles on the vehicle - seemed pretty high for a rental. I booked with Fox because they had the best price for a mini-van but that was not the vehicle I got.
Short wait, knowledgeable ticket agent, creepy guy moving cars around in the garage kept staring at us during my initial walk-around inspection. When receipt was given at end, we were surprised and questioned all the upcharges. We were told that car insurance was included and we also prepaid the tolls fee of $11.00/day (PlatePass all inclusive) But other charges are broken-down as "additional driver" "consolidated facility" "energy recovery fee" "loss damage waiver" "vehicle license fee" and "concession." SAY WHAT ?! We feel like we were ripped-off as these details were not made apparent at check-in.
About QEEQ:8.0/10
simple car, ran well, cheap on gas. The rental company should explain in detail each fee about to be charged and what each line means. There was no transparency on this.
No cars available despite have a confirmation number. Booked again onsite and again no cars despite having another conformation. This happened with Fox Rentals before. Will never use them again. Easycarrentals should drop them from their list of rental companies.
