Overall pretty good, the car was very new. Returning the car in a different location was convenient and the cost was reasonable. However, when picking up the car, the rental staff initially insisted I had to purchase their insurance despite having QEEQ insurance. They only relented after I mentioned contacting QEEQ to resolve the issue.
From a consumer's perspective, firstly, the actual service provider is Europcar and has nothing to do with Shouqi. During the rental period, I was rear-ended. I have photos and the other driver’s license contact information, which clearly shows I am not responsible. I contacted Zuzuche, and while their communication was straightforward with at least some follow-up, Europcar’s customer service was mostly AI email auto-replies. After returning the car, I still received emails from the claims department, making me feel that the earlier discussions were wasted and I had to go through the same process all over again, communicating the same things multiple times. It was very time-consuming.
No queue for car pickup, but staff is inefficient. The car listed on the pickup sheet was not at the international terminal. Had to wait about an hour for it to come from the domestic terminal.
Average. I thought it would be easier to communicate since it’s partnered with Shouqi, but there was no Chinese service at the pickup location—it was purely Europcar with only English-speaking staff. They also had no knowledge of Shouqi. I rented a Toyota RAV4 but was given an MG HS EV plug-in hybrid instead, which felt forced. Charging stations in Australia are sparse, making it highly impractical. It takes at least 5 hours to fully charge at the rare station you find. For those renting in Australia, I would advise against choosing electric or plug-in hybrids, especially since MG's charging ports are quite rare.
Average. I thought it would be easier to communicate since it was under Shouqi, but the pickup location only had English-speaking staff from Europcar who didn't even know about Shouqi. I rented a Toyota RAV4 but was given an MG HS EV plug-in hybrid instead, which felt like it was forced upon me. Charging stations are very scarce in Australia, making it nearly impossible to charge. Even when I found a station, it took at least 5 hours to fully charge, which is very impractical. I advise renters in Australia to be cautious when choosing electric or plug-in hybrid cars, especially since MG's charging port is too rare.
Dissatisfied. When renting the car, they asked us to pay more for a larger vehicle, saying it was necessary for long-distance travel. Later, we found out we were doing a one-way rental, and they wanted us to return that specific car to its original location. Normally, this type of arrangement would come with a discount, but instead, they charged us a lot more. The worst part was when we got the car, after driving for half an hour, a warning appeared indicating an issue with the vehicle. The message was in what seemed to be German, which we couldn't understand. Being in Australia, it should have been in English, but it wasn't—it was either in German or another language, which was very frustrating. What made us even angrier was that we went to the nearest Europcar to resolve the issue, only to find the store closed despite both the website and the sign on the door indicating it was still open. It was a pointless effort. In the end, we decided to return to the original rental location to handle the problem. It took an entire afternoon to resolve it and used up a lot of fuel!
