Waited way to long and almost made me late for the wedding i was attending - drop off was late due to traffic and I was told I would be charged an extra day even though I waited 1.15 hrs at pick up
Like: The staff were super friendly and I’d like to compliment on Peter (OZ guy from Brisbane) who arranged for the pickup of the car on 4th May ‘18 and he was also the one to drop us off at the airport on 6th May ‘18. He was really polite, friendly and helpful. We were really satisfied by the overall experience in renting the car from EasyRentCars. I’ll defintely rent from there again! Dislike: Wish the car was a slightly newer model but not a big deal.

Shocking! We turned up at 11am after booking the car from 10am. This was done on purpose as we knew we would be running late to attend a wedding 1hr north of Wellington. On arrival at Ace pick up we where told we needed to wait as no cars where available. After asking for a different car, just anyone available, we were declined. Staff went in circles not knowing who could make that decision. After 15mins of this and no one giving us any clear indication of when and which car we would be getting, a couple happened to turn up and return a vehicle. This then sat around for some time until finally we began to put more pressure on the people at the desk. A decision was made that we could have the car in 15 mins once cleaning had been completed. After 15mins the car hadn’t been cleaned or was only half cleaned and so we asked for it in an As is condition. There was no apology or anything. Absolutely hopeless service. Certainly won’t be using Ace again and maybe therefore easy rent cars as I don’t know how if we could opt for supplier other than Ace in your matrix of finding a cheap deal for us. It’s a shame but our poor experience with Ace has therefore affected easy rent cars.
Like: The people are friendly and helpful. I didn't get the promised photos of the car damages but as long as they weren't bothered, then I wasn't. But if there had been a problem with damage, this would have been a problem too. The car was very efficient on petrol. But the best thing was the staff. I left my house keys at the rental desk and the lovely woman from Ace drove to the airport to drop them off to me! Many thanks for that. I kept being referred to Auckland and then talked to someone unhelpful there. Eventually I managed to talk to someone in Wellington and by the time we had collected our luggage the shuttle taking us to the rentals had arrived. So phew.
From the start, the staff were extremely rude. When we finally got the car, it turned out to be old and unsafe! We couldn't start the car for almost an hour at the rental lot. Staff were too busy to help us. We finally figured it out ourselves, blaming our ignorance of automatic cars and lack of English skills. One mechanic eventually took pity on us and jump-started the battery, claiming it was fine. We didn't realize how serious this battery issue was until we got stranded the next day in heavy rain, seeking help for over half a day. The police finally assisted us. We lost a whole day of our trip and my one-year-old got sick. The front left tire was also severely worn, making us worry about a blowout the entire journey. We returned to Auckland immediately. This rental company is incredibly irresponsible!
I rented from ACE twice, both in Wellington, so I'll comment on both. The first time, an older gentleman helped me. He was very slow typing and wasted a lot of time; it took almost an hour to get the car. The second time, a young lady assisted me. She was very professional and kept pushing for the quick claim service, repeating it multiple times. The Auckland branch is good, with early opening hours—starting at six in the morning.
