The service counter was unattended, no indication of when staff would return. The vehicle was dirty, old, the windshield washer fluid and brake oil were both at the minimum level. Poor service!
The customer service was poor. When we booked the car, the information on the rental website indicated that they operate 24 hours a day. Due to a delayed flight, we only arrived at the pick-up point at 10:30 PM. There was an issue with the card during the payment process, which resulted in a high-risk warning, causing the card to be temporarily suspended. After more than an hour of hassle, the customer service representative started showing attitude, becoming increasingly rude, and complaining that we were delaying her from finishing her shift, asking who would pay for her overtime. Even more outrageous was the return process. Although we refueled the car at a gas station 1-2 kilometers from the return point and specifically pointed this out to the inspecting staff, who confirmed it was fine, we still received a bill charging us 200 Rand (approximately 100 RMB) for fuel, claiming an additional 14 liters were added. We had already filled up the tank, so there was no way it needed another 14 liters. I had seen similar feedback on forums before but didn't expect it to happen to me. I will never use this company again, absolutely terrible!
The car rental company inexplicably charged an extra 3000 Rand, which seemed like a deposit for returning the car with a full fuel tank. The staff could not clearly explain what the 3000 Rand fee was. First, they said it was for insurance, then they said it was some kind of deposit, but it was actually charged directly to the credit card instead of being held as a credit limit like usual. This fee was not listed on the order either. Thankfully, the customer service team of Zuzuche stepped in and took a long time to clarify this charge. Kudos to Zuzuche's customer service.
In the end, I was extorted for a 200 rupee cleaning fee, claiming the car was not clean, even though it wasn't dirty at all! I even gave 50 rupees as a tip, but that's just how it is in this African country. I've never encountered this situation in other countries before!
The vehicle was a sedan version of an automatic Polo with over 30,000 kilometers on it. The performance and condition were average, and the car was relatively old. Upon returning, I noticed that First Car Rental at Cape Town Airport mainly had small cars, all in average condition.
QEEQ does not reflect the ‘actual’ vehicle supplied, after checking in at the car rental counter.
Not sure how important this is as I have never been offered the car specified, as it is normally ‘or similar’
Most times it’s a bit disappointing!
