Returning the car at Marrakech train station was impossible to find via GPS. The staff couldn't clearly explain its location and told me to wait, but after an hour, there was still no response. Thankfully, a local driver helping with our desert tour assisted us. We had to go around for over ten kilometers through narrow alleys before finding a return point.
Coming from so far away to Morocco just to waste half a day returning a car affected our desert trip as well!
Absolutely not recommended.
You need to call in advance to confirm their working hours; no one was there to handle returns before 9:30 AM. We had booked the rental for 10 AM, but waited almost an hour for the rental agent to show up — the inconvenience of no service counter.
What a terrible company, the pickup location they provided was wrong. We arrived at Casa Port and it showed only 0.5 km away, but after half an hour of navigation, we couldn't find the store. Being unfamiliar with the place, even those who spoke English had heavy accents. After much hassle, QEEQ managed to contact the rental company, who provided an address but it was still unclear. Calling the company was frustrating—either the calls wouldn't go through or they would drop immediately. In ten attempts, only one call got through. Eventually, we had to get the taxi driver to speak directly with them to get to the company building, and even then, we spent another 20 minutes trying to locate it. Upon finally arriving upstairs, no one acknowledged us, and we had to wait an hour. Paid the 8,000 Dirham deposit, and the car was supposed to have a full tank but only had a quarter. Returning it with just over half a tank to be safe, we contacted them in advance to avoid another search, but their office was empty again. What kind of company operates like this? A private workshop? Finally handed the car back and walked away relieved. Avoid Dirent—they claim to be a large local chain, but I am not convinced.
Couldn't reach them on the phone when picking up the car, had to ask the airport staff for help. I booked an automatic but was initially given a manual. I told them I couldn't drive a manual, so they made me wait for more than half an hour. When I got the car, it had no fuel, and they just told me there was a gas station 2 kilometers from the airport. The car was a bit dirty! On the second day, a wrench icon lit up on the dashboard. We had no idea what it meant and couldn't reach them by phone, so we had to ask locals for help. Luckily, it was just a maintenance reminder. On the third day, the engine started making noise. For safety, I wanted them to check if there was a branch in the city to help. They said they were too busy and suggested I return to the airport. Again, I had to ask locals for help. But these weren't the real issues! When we were returning the car, I told them at the hotel that we'd be at the airport in an hour and not to delay us as we had a flight to catch. They agreed, but after countless calls, you can imagine the frustration! In the end, we were on the plane and had to borrow a phone from a fellow passenger to call and ask if they were at the parking lot. They said they'd be there in 40 minutes… How did we handle it? We gave the airport police officer a tip of 100 RMB to return the car for us.
Initially, we scheduled to return the car at 12:45 PM online, but later revised it over the phone to 11:30 AM. However, the staff did not arrive at the airport parking lot until 12:30 PM, making our 2:45 PM flight extremely rushed. We almost missed the boarding.
They were late when we picked up the car. We waited for more than an hour. Returning the car was even worse as no one showed up, and they didn't answer the phone. We had no choice but to leave the car in the parking lot and the keys inside, otherwise we would've missed our flight.
Terrible rental company: 1. The car we picked up was not the model we reserved, and they told us it was the only car left and we couldn't change it. Later, a policeman helped us, and the rental company staff said that the next day we could swap our car for the reserved model in Rabat for free. Trusting this, we took the wrong car. The next day at 10 AM, the staff confirmed on the phone, but an hour later they asked us to call another number and then stopped answering. We had to call the company's main number, and they told us to drive back to Casablanca to change the car. Are you kidding? We arrived back in Casablanca at 2 PM and only managed to sort everything out and leave with the car at 4 PM. On the highway 120 km from Tangier, the warning and engine lights came on. It was 9 PM, and four women were stuck on the highway – imagine that! The so-called 24-hour customer service did not answer our calls! Is this a scam company? Zuzuche customer service asked us to go to Tangier to change the car, but when we got there we found out there was no longer a Tangier branch. We had to continue driving the faulty car.
2. We called three hours in advance to return the car, but four hours later the company personnel still hadn't arrived at the airport, almost causing us to miss our flight!
No office at the airport. Waited three hours to get the car. The car was not full of gas, the condition was very poor, the brakes failed halfway, very dangerous. Customer service attitude was okay but very slow. Staff doesn't speak much English, which is a big problem; had to use translation software to translate English to French, very inconvenient.
This was our first time renting a car abroad and the experience was great! The diRENT staff were especially patient and friendly. They even took us to a nearby gas station before we set off and contacted us to return items we left in the car after returning it. The return process was very smooth without any nitpicking. Highly recommended!
On the last day, we were in a rush, but the tire pressure warning light came on and the brake pads were damaged. We had to spend several hours repairing the car at our own expense, causing us to miss Rabat. Since our flight was very early the next day, we decided to return the car in advance. We communicated with the rental company four to five hours in advance, but when we arrived at the agreed location at Casablanca Airport in the evening, we waited for over an hour and made several phone calls. They kept telling us to wait, and then finally said they weren't coming. We were told to just leave the car and keys in the parking lot. As a result, a few days after returning home, my credit card was charged 400 dollars. Despite numerous communications with the rental company, there was no resolution. This rental experience was truly disgusting. While there are good people in Morocco, it's still hard to avoid scammers. In such places, you must buy full insurance because the cars often have close to 100,000 kilometers. Apart from the annoying traffic police fines, I'm really not sure how many more traps the rental companies have in store.
The car rental company lacked the necessary credentials. They should not accept bookings if they cannot provide the specified vehicle. Complete payment was taken, but the car provided was not as agreed, and they were hours late. This was the most unreliable car rental I've ever dealt with.
