Like: Akmal was so helpful and patient. He had the car organised for pick up (we got lost so it took longer than it should have, no fault of company).
Car made our stay so much better. Akmal was wonderful to deal with and a credit to Samavest.
Dislike: Cannot think of any issues we had with the hire of the car.
Except when local police hit me with a 200MYR on the spot fine for a genuine boo boo. They also took my drivers licence and passport and threatened to take the hire car if I didn’t pay the 200MYR immediately.

Like: Samavest gave us a bigger car despite Perodua Axia which was promised earlier. We have requested to change our drop off venue to Kuah Jetty and they are happy to do that. The person in charge was highly responsive when I told him/her the time I need to drop off the vehicle.
Dislike: We have some issues with the brake. It functioned properly but we heard some screeching whenever we use the brake.

Like: Very quick and easy to find the staff. Friendly staff as well and answered my calls fast and friendly. Car in good condition and drove smoothly.
Dislike: The only issue is that the car had some minor electronic issues. Car Key battery not working so have to lock manually. Handbrake indicator was constantly on even after releasing the handbrake. Also at the beginning there was a minor mix up and almost was given someone else's car.

Hassle free pick up and hand over. Booked 1litre axia but got a 1.3litre myvi. It was a small old car though but served its purpose getting my family of 2 adults and 2 kids from point to point. Generally easy to drive in langkawi, and just drive slower.

The van given does not have enough power with high fuel consumption and spoiled fuel meter. So, the staff has claimed that we had not pump any petrol but only refunded us the deposit after driving for 5 mins to the petrol station to ensure that the petrol has been filled to full tank and the fuel meter started to move.

I’m pretty happy with the picking up and returning process. I hope you can make some checks and repair with your vehicles. The first Proton Saga I received has a faulty radio and hard steering. Hi there my recent rental reference number refers (45001997). The car was in the most deplorable conditions. I've used your services all over the world this year, namely USA, Australia and Iceland. The car was filthy (not washed or cleaned) upon collection, brakes barely worked, was making a helluva noise, and the icing on the cake was when the cockroaches came out to play when dusk dawned upon the island of Langkawi. Although I appreciated their company, the uninvited guests in my rented car were most unwelcome. Is there a way you can streamline your partners or ensure they provide cars that are decent in condition?!

staff helpful and polite. easy to find pickup point at langkawi airport. the pickup and dropoff process were smooth. car condition ok. the only complaints are 1) that the car's braking gives noise, 2) the car check engine light comes on randomly throughout the 4 days rental (giving me a scare but samavest says no problem), 3) the biggest problem is the door central locking couldn't lock properly with the remote control. this is super inconvenient as i had to manually lock all doors (like ancient times) hundreds of times when i leave the vehicle. worst is the renter seems knew about this problem yet they don't go and fix the door central locking. finally 4) warning for future renters - this rental company does not have a Bezza, it is always a Saga from the start, so i am a bit unhappy with being tricked this way (they say "Bezza or similar car"). you should just say it is "almost certainly Saga or similar". i am unhappy because i knew the Saga had 0 airbags while Bezza has at least 2 airbags. i had wanted to avoid the Saga as i do not want to put myself and family in unnecessary risks but alas i got tricked and there i was driving a 0 airbags car for 4 days.

They arranged a staff to wait at the exit gate with a placard bearing driver's name, so finding them was a total breeze.
We were then led to the car, inspected it for any existing damages (slight scratches, dents only). Then we drove away. Easy peasy. The car never gave us any problem during the whole rental period.
We found Samavest staff efficient, knowledgeable, polite and would recommend the company unreservedly.

I booked Axia but they offered me Myvi because no more Axia available. The car model is quite old, but air conditioning all functioning well. Car key remote run out of battery I guessed, because I couldn’t use it to open or lock the car door. Everytime I have to use the car key to manually open and lock the door. Other than that, all works well. Staffs are very friendly and easy approaching.

The staff were very enthusiastic. I rented a 7-seater but they gave me a 12-seater van, allowing me to experience driving a larger vehicle. They helped me exchange it back to a 7-seater in the evening at the hotel. The car was in great condition. I parked improperly at Eagle Square and got a fine of only 100. The hotel staff told me locals usually get fined 300.

We specifically chose a staff member who speaks Chinese, but the person who met us didn't speak Chinese. The website stated that the 200 deposit was to be paid by credit card, but the non-Chinese-speaking staff asked for cash instead. Thankfully, we had 200 MYR on us, which left us dumbfounded. For the pick-up, it was said there would be a sign, but among the sea of pick-up signs, there was no sign with the car rental company's name or our reservation name. We spent over half an hour just finding the person. Even after contacting customer service repeatedly, it was hard to describe what the person picking us up looked like. We finally found him with a very unrecognizable sign, and he didn't speak Chinese, wasting our time. For the return, we agreed on a specific time, and he showed up for the car inspection. When it was time to return the 200 deposit, he said he didn't have the cash with him and asked if we had a Malaysian account for a transfer. Eventually, we contacted the company office, got 150 MYR first, and had to arrange another meeting point for the remaining 50 MYR after check-in at the airport. This would have been problematic if we were in a rush for our flight. Really a terrible experience overall.

Great car rental experience. Kevin, a third-generation Chinese in Malaysia, was really nice. Our flight was delayed and we got the car at 8 PM, and he even upgraded us to a Toyota Vellfire. He did mention that if someone else booked it, we might have to switch cars later. But overall, it was a wonderful experience. We later switched to a brand-new Proton, with just over 1000 kilometers on it. Due to a delay in our sunset cruise by more than an hour, the rental company only charged us for an hour extra and even gave us a ride back to the hotel. The whole experience was excellent. By the way, gasoline is really cheap in Malaysia, about one-third of the price in our home country.

Even the best service doesn't do justice to Kevin and Mr. Chen. They made us feel like we were being welcomed by local friends. In Langkawi, there's no public transport, and driving yourself is the best option. Any questions we had were answered satisfactorily by them, including where to visit and where to process the fish we caught. When returning the car, Mr. Chen even helped us with our luggage into the airport and only left after we got our boarding passes. Their warmth makes me want to return to Langkawi for sure.
