    First electric car rental. Did well in the conditions. Wiper fluid was not full when I got the car so driving back empty was an issue.

    Rental pickup and drop offs went smoothly, but final billing has been a disaster!

    Avis was good, EXCEPT, they made two unauthorized charges to our credit card with no explanation, or copy of a receipt that may help. We dropped car off early in the day, so no attendant. Avis was also aware of extended rental, as the desk attendant had to ask another attendant about what to do, and we assumed that this was allowed for, but it wasn’t reflected on our rental agreement. Very difficult to reach anyone at Avis to discuss this. Placed on hold for over an hour, so I just hung up. I will try again to reach them to discuss these issues.

    Would have been nice to have a blue parking disc, first time I have received a car without it. Had a question on the rental, provided with wrong email and phone number for the local branch, corporate email went to the UK and were promised an answer in 'normal response time' still waiting..

    Overall this was a very good experience. Booking was easy and the pick-up location easily found The car was very clean and in very good condition. This was the second recent booking for a rental at this location. It was an Avis rental and I have rented many times from this office - always a good experience.

    Terrible, would never rebook with Avis in Bloemfontein

    It was a terrible experience, we had to pay in even though we paid the whole rental fee through QEEQ, the car we received was an “upgrade” from them but it was in fact smaller, dirty, smelled and had stains on the seats. They did not even find our booking and didn’t take our booking confirmation email from QEEQ as proof.

    We were greeted by the Avis personnel at the airport pickup for assistance. We approached the extra care. All steps were handled professionally and efficiently. The Avis employee in charge was especially helpful. His name is Shon Middleton, and I want to thank him for outstanding customer service! He followed up with me to ensure that we found the car to our liking. That’s exceptional customer service!

    Vehicle itself was clean and counter staff helpful but the car was not full (closer to 90%) and it also had only a 2% charge. As a hybrid, I'd expect better. Due to the small gas capacity, we were suddenly on empty during our initial journey.

    Seemless experience

    Lies about vehicle available and charges required. Embarrassing excuse for an EV in 2024.

    I reserved a Tesla and was offered a Hyundia and a Mercedes. Hyundai is not the same class of vehicle. The Mercedes software was in beta stages. Lane keep assist would bounce around the lane even leaving it, it was if a drunk driver was driving. Navigation system failed 80% of the time either couldnt' find the location like Leogo land for instance but could find Legoland Holiday Inn. 4 out of 5 charging locations it directed me to were behind locked gates. Charging port wouldn't open and required 20 minutes with another Merc owner to figure out. Regenerative braking would simply give up by design at 20Km/hr in other words stop breaking coming up to another car at about 3 car lengths away nearly causing an accident. Later if stopped at about 80km/hr. The car a is a disaster and would stop anyone from owning an EV if they didnt' know better. AVIS customer support was useless. They told me to drive back to the airport to talk to the front desk about changing my reservation. I asked why would i spend a 4 hour round trip driving instead of talking ot them on the phone to confirm they had a car available. This was not possible apparently as they are to busy for existing customer to pickup. I was obviously annoying the CR asking such questions. Upcharged for Tolls. I was told I would go through a ton of tolls on my trip at least 10-15 and that I should purchase the flat toll fee. I went through two. A roughly $20 charge was turned into $70. Upcharged for charging. Asked how much I thought I was going to spend charging the car up before drop off convinced I should spend $20 to charge it at drop off. The Merc comes with Free 30 minute charging more than enough to charge the car to full. Further lies.

    Pure joy and maximum safety

    We really wanted to rent a toyota rav 4 specifically, and as you know you book a class of car (small SUV). on our arrival the toyota was not available, but the staff did everything they could to make it available to us - and it worked! Thank you to the people at the desks and those in the car park for your kindness and friendliness. We really appreciate it, you are great!

    Good experience till I realise the scam by Avis.

    All was good till I realise Avis simply added almost triple the amount of we agreed price to my booking, 300 for one way fee which I had in original voucher with QEEQ and another 500 or so of unknown charges. Only extra I ordered was for toll pass. I think they even charged me gas which I ordered full to full and returned it full of course. Was fan of them before but this was a disaster!

    While the car itself met my expectations, my experience at the counter was disappointing. The representative added services like Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) and Additional Liability Insurance (ALI) without my consent or explanation. This resulted in unexpected charges that I only noticed later. Transparency at the counter needs significant improvement to ensure customers are fully informed about what they are signing.

    Staff very helpful explaining the breakdown of the cost and not pushing to buy additional insurance. Gave a discounted rate to upgrade from Peugeot 5008 to Volvo XC60. No regret for the upgrade.

    Avis need be clear what a “ preferred customer “ is

    Misleading pick up information. As I’d prepaid and given all pre booking information to Avis it states go to the desk marked pre booked give your card and license and pick up your keys not waiting. This not true. At the desk there’s a queue and they ask if anyone is a preferred customer, I said I was but they said not and get back in the queue which then took me about 25 mins
