Easy to find staff at the airport.
Pick-up and drop-off are very fast.
I reserved honda fit car but Times upgrades car to toyota premio with same price.
We got a 130,000km old car, barely made it uphill, very stinky and with a leaky air con that made driving with 38dgs outside a nightmare.
The staff didn’t really speak English and the only thing they made clear was that upon return the car needed to be refilled in a specific gas station and that they would need to check the invoice. Unsurprisingly this has station had the most expensive gas in Kyoto, 20¥/ltr more than anywhere else! A rent a car to avoid!
On the third day of renting the car, the engine suddenly had issues and could not be driven. We called the accident service center, but the staff was unclear about many issues, including whether we need to cover the cost of arranging staff and towing, and how the compensation or follow-up work would proceed.
The lady at the counter when returning the car was very impatient and rude, lacking the usual Japanese service spirit. She was irritable and couldn't speak Chinese. It was really terrible!
Since we arrived at the store late and delayed their closing time, the male store manager was very displeased and gave us a hard time before letting us take the car. But the female staff had no issues. These three laughs are for the female staff.

Got a decent car, a Mazda with 65k km but in good condition.
At the counter none of the (young) clerks spoke English so we used google translate... Thankfully we didn’t experience any problems during the few days we had the car, otherwise I don’t know how we would have solved them!
On the reservation, i order the Kyushu expressway pass at remark. When i take the car, you staff say can't provide this pass. Why can not reply me early? At last about the extra rent ETC card. Why can not provide this extra service?

I flew an international flight, but the car rental pickup point is only near the domestic terminal in Japan. So, I booked a car at the domestic terminal for convenience. However, it turned out the distance between the international and domestic terminals is quite far. The company's desk at the international terminal does not offer a shuttle to the rental point or the domestic terminal; you have to take a public shuttle on your own. When returning the car, the rental company also won't take you to the international terminal. Their service is rigid and needs improvement.
