I have insurance with the credit card which is issued from Austria - so I couldn't get any document due to time difference to Los Angeles.
In the 10 years, I have the card it's the first time that a car rental wanted proof. I paid insurance with easy rent cars, my credit card and at the rental company. I was the best-insured looser paying everybody. If you check the google maps reviews you will find out I wasn't the only one falling for this scheme. I guess It falls back to you when I have a voucher where stands I don't have to pay anything at the desk.
It was not very convenient to go to the car rental company, needed to go to the bus stop. After arriving at the rental company, I was told that when calling I should mention I am Chinese, as Chinese customers have free airport shuttle service.

It was an excellent experience. The service was comfortable, and everything from pick-up to accident handling was smooth. I hope Yesway can have more locations. Unfortunately, there isn't one in Las Vegas.

the first day they gave us a Ford focus, through the streets of Hollywood on the rise the car began to warn of transmission heating, which was worrying and happened 2 times, cancel an attraction for the Hollywood observatory for that problem, we lost 4 hours in going to return the car and claim for another, happily this problem happened in the city and not outside it because it would have been a bigger problem!
- Chose the self-service option, but upon arrival, some booking procedures were still required.
- They printed our international driving permit only after a reminder.
- They provided a guide to U.S. traffic rules, which is very helpful for newcomers to driving in the U.S.
- The provided offline GPS wasn't very useful.
- We were pleasantly surprised to find a phone holder in the car, which was brand new and very sturdy.
- Picked up the car from a store at the international airport, where they provided free self-service hot water, coffee, tea, and restrooms. However, sometimes there was no staff present, and we had to call them out.
- On the last day, they drove us to the airport, and although we waited about half an hour, a staff member later apologized and explained that the shuttle had to refuel, which took some time. The shuttle was very comfortable, highly recommended~
- Overall, I would choose yesaway first for my next self-drive trip abroad.

The car was a 2016 car which is rather old for a rental car. The front tires were not in a very good condition (I would have replaced them if they were on my personal car). I mentioned that to your employees and asked for a different car, but they were very firm not to meet my request.
We received larger vehicle from lot. Vehicle in poor condition. Brakes rattled, car quickly overheated driving in traffic, car felt as though it was not safe and needed to be serviced badly. When I contacted YESAWAY, they were unable to accommodate us unless we drove the 2.5 hour back to LA. Discussion about what was wrong with the car resulted in customer service agent stating that if something was wrong with the car, it was our fault since we drove it off the lot. Very disappointed in overall quality and service.

The overall experience was very positive.
The good:
Once I got to the rental place, the process for pickup and drop off was very smooth and easy and quick. I did not purchase insurance and the rep was not pushy at all to try to get me to purchase it. They just required me to provide proof of my own insurance. Car was very clean and in good condition and they provided a phone holder for Usong your own phone as a GPS and an umbrella.
Could use improvement:
Started off a bit frustrating because I didn’t notice the pickup instructions which were fairly low on the confirmation email. When I called in, the phone rep was friendly and helpful, but a bit difficult to understand due to his accent. The shuttle situation was a bit awkward as I had to take an airport shuttle to a train station to get picked up there by the YESAWAY shuttle and there is no specific pickup location at the train station so the driver seemed to have a bit of a hard time finding me.
