Overall satisfied, but the car pickup process was a bit vague—the staff just marked an area on the paper and wasn't very clear. Later, I figured out that I could pick any car from that area. Additionally, leaving the garage at night was particularly slow.
The app is easy to use. Although there was a bit of waiting at Dollar, the car pickup process was very fast. I was fortunate to get a Malibu, which was the perfect car for my trip.
The car was in good condition, but the pick-up process took about one and a half to two hours with very low efficiency. The store staff continuously tried to upsell car upgrades and insurance, even after I clearly said no. It didn’t stop until I firmly refused at the end. After using my credit card and reaching the hotel, I found out that the agreed pre-authorization of $200 turned into $650. I’ll only know the exact amount after a few days when the charge is clear; if not, I might need to contest it. Overall, Dollar is slightly cheaper and the car is fine, but the store service is terrible. Comparing it to the neighboring Hertz is like night and day (Note: Dollar was acquired by Hertz, maybe to emphasize the contrast?).
Overall satisfactory, but the sales representative was not aware that we had already purchased full insurance through QEEQ and still tried hard to sell us additional insurance, even asking the platform staff to call him! Luckily, I firmly explained that we already had full insurance, which was not visible in their system, and the sales representative relented. At the car lot, you can choose your vehicle yourself, though it may not be the exact model you had in mind; it will be from the same series. We ended up with a Nissan mid-sized car, which performed well and was easy to drive!
They immediately tried to upsell me to a 7-seater Pathfinder. Initially, I thought it was a free upgrade because the rental car website mentioned this model as part of the same group. Later, they persistently pushed for trailer insurance. Due to language barriers, I ended up paying a $500 upgrade fee. I realized the mistake when I got to the parking lot and went back to resolve it. After complaining to the car rental customer service, they reluctantly canceled the upgrade charges.
In addition to credit and debit cards, you can now pay for online car rentals with cryptocurrency! Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) are accepted. Curious about how long a Bitcoin transaction takes or how to pay with Bitcoin? Read our FAQs for more details.
