I was given a Hyundai accent in almost new condition...not a Toyota. When I went to collect my vehicle was told I had to pay an extra $20 a day as I didn't have full coverage. When booked in Australia I thought I had it all paid for. Not happy. Service was fine
The rental company is a 5-minute drive from the airport, and there was a shuttle service to pick us up. There were not many people when we arrived, so the process was quite efficient. The staff briefly explained safety precautions and the car's features.
They did not have the car I requested, and tried to "upgrade"me to a larger car. Unfortunately, bigger does not always mean better when hiring cars to drive around an unfamiliar city. They then tried to give me a car that cost more per day. Eventually, they managed to "find" a car that was more suitable -- why it was not offered in the first place is a bit of a mystery.
Had trouble locating customer service kiosk at christchurch airport since there was another rental car company with a similar name. Name should have been clearer or at least given a heads up which name to look for. Or maybe someone waiting by the arrival.
My only complaint is that the car was too big. The counter man showed us a picture of a Toyota hatchback- which was great and what I wanted. The actual car was a big, boxy South Korean car with sports tires. It was much bigger snd clunkier than I wanted. I wish they had given us the car we wanted and not the one we got.
I reserved a Toyota RAV4, but was given a SsangYong instead. The car was much smaller, less fuel-efficient, and clearly not the same class as the RAV4. When picking up and returning the car, I noticed other customers also did not receive their reserved models and were given lower-class cars. This company attracts Chinese tourists with competitive prices but deliberately provides lower-class vehicles. I strongly recommend that rental car platforms ban such companies.
I clearly bought full insurance on Zuzuche, but when the windshield was chipped by a stone, they asked for over 3000 NZD in compensation at the time of return, saying I should claim it back through insurance later. The process and paperwork are handled by the rental company, so why should consumers have to pay upfront?
I was stoked with $117 for a "corolla or similar" for 4 days but of course that was too good to be true, I got a sluggish Hyundai Accent instead. Still good value I suppose. The staff were ok but didnt go out of their way at all. I wasnt explained the drop off location and had to leave cash for parking as I dropped it in the wrong spot and didnt have time to move it. I left my phone in the car and had to wait half a day for them to retrieve it and then arrange my own courier.
