All the paperwork was complete, but they refused to rent to us, claiming we didn't have certification from the Italian embassy and that the translation provided by the rental company was falsified. Their attitude was terrible! Clearly, they didn't want to rent to us early at a lower rate, aiming to charge higher prices later. This is unacceptable!
Insurance is very expensive.
Car was booked for 12:00 but because of some technical issue was provided only after 2 hours wait. As a compensation - free GPS was provided (pretty useless when everybody have smart phones)
“From Milan to Venice, a terrible car rental experience”
About Alamo:2.0/10
The store name does not match, the staff are very unprofessional, it’s almost deserted, there are very few car models, and it’s far from the central station!
Unreasonable charges! They can charge you even after the pre-authorization period ends. When we picked up the car, they tried to charge us for an upgrade saying the original model wasn't available, but we refused. Besides pushing for insurance, there are additional charges that they insist on. Returning the car is a matter of luck as locations are hard to find. Even months after the pre-authorization ends, they can still charge your credit card with no email notification. They claim it's a fee for checking if you violated traffic rules, and explain it took a lot of effort to verify it was your violation, hence a $500 fee. This is separate from the actual fines.
“Overall very satisfactory, minus couple things I mentioned above”
About Alamo:9.0/10
I was charged by Alamo for roadside assistance service still, after I clearly stated I did not want the service. Only two days later I noticed extra charge on my credit card. So far I filed request for refund but have not heard back yet
About QEEQ:8.0/10
Our initial booking was canceled without giving the reason. It would be good to have the reason why, when receiving cancelation email, instead of just sorry we had to cancel your reservation
At drop off the worker found a tiny scratch on the PLASTIC hubcap. It was hard to even see and now Alamo is going to charge me 140 euro. Will never use Alamo again.
The car had some damage to the inside of the trunk, and it was t documented before we left. (It was in the lining of the trunk that covered the spare tire). And they are trying to charge us an extra €290 for damages. We didn’t do this so fighting with Alamo’s customer service is proving to be difficult. Make sure to check everything inside and out. They’ll try and get you.
In addition to credit and debit cards, you can now pay for online car rentals with cryptocurrency! Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) are accepted. Curious about how long a Bitcoin transaction takes or how to pay with Bitcoin? Read our FAQs for more details.
