Overall collection service very poor. Wait at airport for transport = 15 minutes. Wait at counter for car = 60 minutes. Car allocated had only small amount of gas - wait to exit LAX rental area = 30 minutes. Overall over 2 hours to collect car

AVIS is a well-known car rental company, and I've used them before, thinking they should be fine. However, in late March, I rented a car at Los Angeles Airport and encountered an unprecedented situation. Arriving at the AVIS airport rental point around 3 PM, I saw a long queue at the counter, nearly extending out the door. After about an hour of waiting, I finally completed the paperwork. I thought I could just take the contract outside and pick up a car, but was told by the staff there that I needed to wait another 1-2 hours for the car. I was shocked and only then noticed many others waiting for cars. Eventually, I got the car after 6 PM. Not only was the pickup slow, but returning the car also had issues. About a week after returning the car, I found a $102 charge from AVIS on my credit card. Customer service said it was for refueling since the car was returned without a full tank. However, I clearly returned it with a full tank, which was checked by the staff at the return point. After providing evidence and having customer service contact AVIS, I finally got the $102 refunded to my credit card last week. Kudos to the rental service's customer support for their responsibility and efficiency.

Poor experience. I asked the shuttle bus driver which terminal to go to when boarding, but the driver's announcement was too quiet, causing me to miss my stop. The driver did not ensure that passengers alighted at the correct spot, and we ended up circling back to the rental site. I missed my flight. When I asked the driver if I had missed my stop, we were already back at the starting point. The driver said I should have sat in the front row to hear the announcements. Missing my flight was an incredibly bad experience!

Very satisfied! I booked a CAMRY, but I got a RAV4. Waited in line for 20 minutes. The car was very new and clean.

Avis in Los Angeles was the worst car rental experience I've ever had. Avoid if possible. Long wait times and deceptive customer service.

We agreed to pick up the car a bit earlier and return it on time, charging by the day. However, when returning the car (because we picked it up two hours early), they charged us for two days, which seems like a clear case of malice.
