BUDGET CAR RENTAL REVIEWS IN NEW ZEALAND

The service was pretty good. I originally booked a Prado and was looking forward to it, but when I got there, they said it wasn't available and gave me an Isuzu instead. I was a bit disappointed at first, but the car looked pretty cool, it was clean and tidy, and had driving assistance. It was easy to drive and accompanied me for 12 days. Thumbs up.

Terrible rental company When picking up the car, they just printed out the contract for you to sign without mentioning the additional insurance options, forcing you to pay extra. Afterwards, you'll be charged additional insurance fees! Also, there are no gas stations near the airport, so you need to return the car with a full tank. Please 'prepare a small fuel container' with 1 liter of fuel, and manually add it to the tank when returning the car to avoid extra fuel charges! A very petty company.

Terrible rental company, misleading consumers and charging hidden fees. They said $65, but I found a $76 charge on my bank statement. Customer service just said the actual amount is what counts. Why not charge a million? The car wasn't even the model I booked, very small and cheap.

Great service. We spent an extra 90 NZD to rent snow chains just in case it snowed at Crown Mountain. We didn't use them, but the service was excellent.

Overall good, simple and efficient

Overall, I was quite satisfied with the service. Although the car provided was not the one I had reserved, it suited our travel needs perfectly. The interior space was quite large, comfortably accommodating four people, and we had a lot of luggage. The third row seats were ideal for small bags and backpacks. The staff were very warm during the pickup process and did not try to upsell any additional products.

The process was quite convenient. You just need to drop the key in the small house at the exit when returning the car. The road assistance is just a card with a contact number, costing 10 NZD/day, which I found useless and a waste of money. Because traveling to Milford Sound requires you to rent snow chains, you have no choice but to rent them for 12 NZD/day. If the store doesn't explicitly say you need to rent them, don't bother.
